Demi Lovato's Mom Opens Up About Her Daughter's Sobriety And How 'Proud' She Is Of Her

In July, news broke that singer Demi Lovato had suffered a dangerous drug overdose and was hospitalized in Los Angeles. Now, several months later, Lovato's mother, Dianna De La Garza, is updating the public on how proud she is of her daughter and her ongoing efforts to beat addiction.

Reporting that her daughter has now been sober for 90 days, La Garza told Teen Vogue:

I couldn't be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it's work.

Lovato's progress is especially welcome news, especially to La Garza, for whom the day of Lovato's overdose was one of the most frightening of her life:

I was looking at my phone and I saw all these text messages coming in from all over. One text message that clued me in on what was going on said, 'I just saw on TMZ and I'm so sorry,'...I was terrified to look at my phone.

Now, Demi's friends and family are remaining supportive by her side, knowing that besting an addiction is a long, hard road:

It's...not easy and there are no shortcuts.

Lovato's entire family is standing behind her through the battle. Her sister, Madison, recently commented that Demi is "working really hard on her sobriety and we're all so incredibly proud of her."

Friends and fans are sending their congratulations out to Lovato—90 days sober is an amazing step towards a heathy life.

Many others fighting addiction are being inspired by Lovato's struggle. Well done, Demi, congrats on 90 days!
