Cypress Hill Is Making A 'Simpsons' Joke From 1996 Come True—And Fans Are Applauding

Animated Cypress Hill in "The Simpsons" episode

After 'The Simpsons' joked in 1996 about the rap group hiring the London Symphony Orchestra while high, Cypress Hill is one step closer to making that joke a reality.

Hip hop group Cypress Hill helped make a funny bit featured in a 1996 episode of The Simpsons about the trio accidentally hiring the London Symphony Orchestra while high come true.

The LA-based trio announced it would be teaming up with the 71-piece orchestra at London’s Royal Albert Hall for a show on July 10, 2024.

According to Consequence, the group's big hits like “Insane in the Brain” and “I Wanna Get High” will be performed over orchestral arrangements conducted by LSO's Troy Miller.

Cypress Hill was immortalized as cartoon versions of themselves in the seventh season of The Simpsons in a May 19, 1996 episode titled, "Homerpalooza."

In the episode, Homer, who is disheartened to discover nobody listens to classic rock music anymore, joins the "Hullabalooza music festival"—a parody of Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival—as a carnival freak and winds up earning respect from a younger generation for his outdated taste in music.

In addition to prominent '90s rock bands Sonic Youth and The Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill was one of the bands Homer toured and partied with during the festival, and the rap group teams up with the LSO for a performance.

Cypress Hill wrote in a statement:

“We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall."

Fans rejoiced over the exciting collab.

The group added:

"It’s a dream come true, a collaboration only The Simpsons could have predicted.”

The Simpsons experienced many moments throughout its 35-season run in which the animated sitcom accurately prophesied the future.

Examples of their prognostications manifesting in real life included Lady Gaga performing at the Super Bowl (Season 23, Episode 22: “Lisa Goes Gaga”) and Disney's acquisition of Fox (Season 10, Episode 5: “When You Dish Upon a Star”).

LSO’s managing director Kathryn McDowell added:

“After years of social media teasing it, many fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipedream—but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person, and look forward to creating an unforgettable musical moment!"
"Many thanks to the creators of 'The Simpsons' for the idea and to AEG Artistic and PolyArts for making it all happen.”

Pre-sale tickets for the event began on March 26, and will be followed by the general ticket sale on March 27th through the Royal Albert Hall website.

'Dr. Pimple Popper' Star Reveals She Suffered Stroke While Filming Series: 'I Had A Part Of My Brain That Died'

It's already scary to witness a younger person go through a life-changing medical diagnosis, but it's especially jarring to see a medical professional, who presumably knows best about how to care for themselves, go through the same.

Sandra Lee, known as "Dr. Pimple Popper" on Lifetime, is well-known for her bedside manner, medical knowledge and ability to share her knowledge in an accessible way, and, of course, her unique approach to dermatological care.

Rob Schneider Dragged For Criticizing Elizabeth Banks' 'Dangerous Rhetoric' After She Called Out White Female Trump Voters

After actor and filmmaker Elizabeth Banks—who played Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games—called out white women who voted for President Donald Trump, MAGA actor Rob Schneider lashed out against what he referred to as her "dangerous rhetoric."

Those who've read the book and seen the film adaptation of The Hunger Games know that Trinket—known for joyfully announcing, "Happy Hunger Games and the odds may be ever in your favor!"—is a mistress of propaganda for a hostile government that forces teenagers to fight to the death every year to intimidate critics and keep society's poorest and most vulnerable in line. Trinket eventually embraces the rebellion.

Kid Rock Dragged After Offering Massive Discount To His MAGA Festival Due To Abysmal Ticket Sales

Musician Kid Rock has hitched his wagon to president Donald Trump for quite some time now, and it seems he too is in the "find out" stage of that particularly exercise in FAFO.

It seems that when the president you form your entire personality around craters to a catastrophic approval rating even for him, your ship starts to sink too.

Trump's Border Czar Ripped For Hypocrisy After Telling Pope Leo To 'Stay Out Of Politics'

President Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan was called out for hypocrisy after telling Pope Leo XIV to "stay out of politics" after he clashed with Trump over the widely unpopular war in Iran.

Last week, Pope Leo criticized the war and called on the world "to reject war, especially a war which many people have said is an unjust war, which is continuing to escalate and is not resolving anything."
