Chris Christie Fires Back At Trump After 'Sloppy' Jab–But Twitter Isn't Having It

Chris Christie mocked Trump for losing to Biden after Trump ridiculed him on Truth Social as 'sloppy' and a 'failed former governor.'

Chris Christie may have allied himself with Trump after ending his own presidential campaign, but a recent social media spat made it clear that mutual respect and understanding definitely isn't something the two have for each other these days.

After Christie predicted Trump wouldn't be able to beat current President Joe Biden if the two ran against each other in the 2024 election on ABC News on Sunday, Trump fired back via his own social media platform Truth Social, calling Christie "sloppy" and referring to him as the "failed former governor of New Jersy."

Trump posted:

"'Sloppy' Chris Christie, the failed former Governor of New Jersey, spent almost his entire last year in office campaigning in New Hampshire for the Republican Nomination for President. Much like his term in office, where he left with an Approval Rating of just 9%, his Presidential campaign was a complete disaster."
"He endorsed me the following day, later recommended Chris Wray for the FBI (how did that work out?), went down in flames, and then was SALVAGED by ABC FAKE NEWS. I never wanted him!"

Christie fired back via Twitter later that same day, referring to Trump's latest outburst as a "tantrum" and making himself out to be the victim.

"I’m the target of Donald Trump’s new tantrum. None of his lies about me today bothered him when he asked me to prep him for every general election debate or offered me 3 different cabinet posts. He’s the only man to lose to Biden outside Delaware. That loss to Joe still stings."

People were quick to point out Christie was simply reaping what he had sown, after allying himself with Trump and supporting his spiteful rhetoric for years.

Others pointed out Trump never actually supported Christie either, so the online hostility really shouldn't have come as a surprise.

While Christie certainly seems to have figured out Trump doesn't understand the concept of loyalty, it remains to be seen whether Republican voters will choose to see the truth or vote for Trump again in 2024.

Many people have publicly withdrawn their support for the former President in his bid to take back the office, but no other major GOP candidates have officially announced their intention to run in the next Presidential election yet.
