P!nk and The Indigo Girls released Dear Mr. President in 2006 as an open letter to President George W. Bush to criticize several areas of his presidency, including the war in Iraq, his opposition to the gay rights movement, the No Child Left Behind act, among other things.

And in the tumultuous political environment of 2020s America, it seems it could be applicable again, perhaps with a few modifications.

The lyrics open:

"Dear Mr. President/Come take a walk with me/Let's pretend we're just two people and/You're not better than me./I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly/What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?/Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?/What do you feel when you look in the mirror?/Are you proud?"

Some people have been asking P!nk to revamp the song to be about Donald Trump since 2017, but P!nk has not been able to find the words for "this shameful person."

Fans agree, even the word "dear" is offensive.

Following the impeachment acquittal, after the Senate voted to acquit Trump of all charges after blocking witnesses and evidence from admission into the trial, Cher took to Twitter to beg P!nk one more time to rewrite the song.

And people are feeling the passion.

Meanwhile, folks have been addressing their own letters of discontent to the President about various topics.

Trump's colorful record thus far includes things from draining money from HIV/AIDS research to build the border detention centers, the military trans ban, all the way to trivial behaviors such as name-calling over Twitter.

P!nk has yet to respond to Cher's request, but we hope she has something up her sleeve.
