Music has the ability to move hearts, even when you don't understand the lyrics.

Composers and music makers lean on that fact when they create.

Lower tones can be ominous or sensual. A little upward key change and listener's hearts grow 3 sizes.

Want moody? You need a minor key and a pleading string section.

Rarely, a voice comes along that's so undeniably powerful and pure and used at such a high skill level, that it becomes a sort of musical magic in and of itself.

There are voices like sirens, singing the world under their spell. Even if you don't think you're into it at first. Even if you don't speak the language. Even if you're not into that genre.

There are voices like Whitney Houston's.

And voices like that have the power to make us all feel like this, even when we can't understand what's being sung. Like in a viral TikTok video featuring a baby and a bit of Whitney.

We totally get it, little one.

The power of Whitney compels you.

Whitney gets me too 🤣 #fyp #whitneyhouston #alwaysloveyou #cryingbaby #smilingbaby #TalkingTree

Video shared by TikTok user @theredmoonband is a perfect example of exactly what we mean.

Whitney's hit 'I Will Always Love You' showcased her vocals so expertly that it took the world by storm. At the songs peak, there's a moment where everything drops out for a beat of silence that's followed by a drum. That space feels like a launching pad from which Whitney's vocals soar. Her "and I" was delivered with so much power and emotion that, something kind of bonkers happened.

The song itself was a mega mega hit, but that two word moment outshines even that. It's become a meme, a cultural moment, a force of nature almost.

Two words. Two syllables. Four little letters. Whitney made it mean the world.

You absolutely sang this out loud in your head, even if you don't understand the bottom half.

So TikTok was zero percent surprised when our chunky little baby friend got all choked up listening to Whitney sing the beyond-famous line. Her delivery just does things to people. Even if those people are tiny ones who've never experienced heartbreak and don't understand what she's saying.

Music moves us.
