Trump Blasted After Declaring Himself ‘Acting President Of Venezuela’ In Mock Wikipedia Entry

On Sunday, President Trump shared a photo of himself with the new title of "Acting President of Venezuela"—and people are not having it.

President Donald Trump is facing criticism after he shared a mock Wikipedia entry that features a picture of himself with the new title of "Acting President of Venezuela." This comes little more than a week after his administration invaded the South American country and ousted its dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Trump previously claimed the U.S. will take a day-to-day role governing Venezuela after removing Maduro, an act of regime change widely viewed as an act of war that came without congressional approval and violated international law.

While the post is an obvious troll, it is a tacit slam against Delcy Rodríguez, whom the Trump administration recognizes as Venezuela’s interim president. Rodríguez herself has “invited the U.S. government to work together on an agenda of cooperation," dialing back remarks she made shortly after assuming the role of Acting President that Venezuela would “never again be anyone’s colony."

Her change of tune came after Trump told The Atlantic that she could “pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro” if she did not bend to his wishes.

This is very concerning coming from a president who alarmed the U.S. after telling The New York Times that the only existing constraints on his power are those limited by his "morality" and "my own mind."

Notably, Trump also told the publication that he would decide when international law constraints apply to the U.S., saying “it depends what your definition of international law is."

Recently, the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, accused Washington of an "illegitimate armed attack devoid of any legal justification," adding that Venezuela’s "natural wealth, oil, energy, strategic resources, and geopolitical position" is a "central element of the aggression."

When you factor in that Trump himself told reporters aboard Air Force One that he alerted not Congress but the oil companies before invading the country, it's clear he believes—as this fake Wikipedia entry underscores—that he is calling the shots and that the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people matters nothing to him at all.

For her part, Delcy Rodriguez was not having it.

And neither was anyone else.

Trump's narcissism knows no bounds.
