Trump-Backed MI Candidate Admits She Would Vote To Outlaw Birth Control In Blunt Interview

Trump-Backed MI Candidate Admits She Would Vote To Outlaw Birth Control In Blunt Interview

A Catholic candidate who is running for a Michigan state Representative seat declared she would ban all forms of birth control if given the opportunity.

Jacky Eubanks, a Gen-Z Republican who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, declared her stance against contraception during an interview with Catholic journalist Michael Voris–the founder of Saint Michael's Media, a Christian right-wing apostolate.

When Voris asked how she would respond to those opposed to her conservative values in the state of Michigan, Eubanks said:

“I guess we have to ask ourselves, would that ever come to a vote in the Michigan state legislature?"
"And if it should, I would have to side with it should not be legal."

You can watch the interview in the clip below.

Her comments came a few weeks after the leaked Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) draft majority opinion, obtained by Politico, suggested the 1973 ruling of Roe v Wade would be overturned.

Eubanks continued:

“People believe that birth control—it’s better, like you said, oh, because then you won’t get pregnant and you won’t need to have an abortion.”
“But I think it gives people the false sense of security that they can have consequence-free sex, and that’s not true and that’s not correct."

She also stressed "Sex ought to be between one man and one woman in the confines of marriage.”

Republicans indicated they would eliminate federal protections for women's reproductive rights and are also eyeing the issue of contraceptive freedom next.

Republican politicians are aiming to reverse Griswold v. Connecticut, which was the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1965 decision that established a constitutional right to privacy. It protected the liberty of married couples to buy and use contraceptives without government restriction.

The ruling's potential reversal could jeopardize future related decisions on birth control protections, abortion and marriage equality.

In her blunt interview, Eubanks added:

"We need to make a plain statement of fact, which is: The reason why the west is great is because western civilization's underpinning is Christianity."

She insisted that abortion and gay marriage–which are outside of "the Christian moral order"–lead to "chaos and destruction and a culture of death, which is why we're seeing that today."

In his endorsement of Eubanks–who is running for Michigan's newly-drawn 63rd House district, which encompasses portions of St. Clair and Macomb counties–Trump called her an "America First Patriot" and claimed "she is finding further proof of the rampant Election Fraud in 2020."

The former Trump staffer has firmly believed in the conspiracy theory that Trump won the 2020 election, even though he lost Michigan by more than 154,000 votes.

Eubanks has repeatedly called for an audit despite the fact there has been no evidence of outside interference during Macomb County’s 2020 election
