Singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne made her TikTok debut by revisiting her chart-topping hit, "Sk8er Boi," that put her on the map as the "Punk Pop Queen" in 2002.

With "Sk8er Boi" (pronounced "skater boy") approaching its 20th anniversary since it was released as her second single from her debut album Let Go, she reintroduced the punk-pop song to a new generation of listeners in a TikTok video featuring legendary professional skateboarder, Tony Hawk.

The video received over 4.3 million likes. Not bad at all considering it's her first video on the popular video-sharing app.

The clip opened with Lavigne sporting a similar fashion she would've worn in the early 2000s—a cutoff tee and shorts with dangling suspenders—and lip-synched to "Sk8er Boi".

The camera then zoomed towards her loosely fitted necktie and zoomed out to reveal Tony Hawk sporting the same tie before performing a few tricks on his personal ramp.

Many commented on how the 36-year-old singer hasn't aged at all since her debut in the music scene.

Tony Hawk—who in 2014 was named one of the most influential skateboarders of all time by FoxWeekly—posted a behind-the-scenes clip from the shoot in which he gave Lavigne some pointers.

The Canadian singer's first attempt didn't go so well, but by her second try she successfully crossed to the other side of the ramp and triumphantly danced with pride.

Hawk captioned the Instagram clip with the following self-penned news flash:

"Breaking news: Sk8er Boi singer learns skating move from old Sk8er Man."

"Sk8er Boi" was written by Lavigne and The Matrix (Scott Spock, Lauren Christy, and Graham Edwards), and produced by The Matrix.

It's about her skater boyfriend and the girl who rejected him back in high school due to their non-compatibility and her snobby friends who didn't approve of him.

The lyrics read, in part:

"He was a punk/She did ballet/What more can I say?"

The song was a critical and commercial success and received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the 2003 awards.

Fans of Lavigne are anticipating the singer revisiting her punk-pop roots with her seventh studio album, which does not have an announced release date yet.
