The Spider-Man star opened up to 'Unilad' about the poor reception his Apple TV+ show 'The Crowded Room' has received—and his vulnerability and honesty is being applauded by fans.

It's no secret that Tom Holland exerted nearly every ounce of himself to give his best possible performance in The Crowded Room, so much so, in fact, that the actor announced he was taking a year off from acting because of the mental and physical challenges he endured while filming.

So it should be no surprise, then, that the Spider-Man star is defending the Apple TV+ show amidst negative reviews, and his response to the poor reception is being applauded by fans everywhere.

The Crowded Room follows the arrest of Holland's character Danny Sullivan after a shooting at Rockefeller Center. Sullivan's past comes to light as he in interviewed by an investigator played by Amanda Seyfried.

And while the show has been widely criticized, Holland stands by the show because of its potential to empower people to seek help without fear of feeling ashamed.

He said in an interview with Unilad:

"It's no secret that my show has been so horribly reviewed, but I'm here today to promote the show."
"I'm still here, so I'm very resilient."

Holland continued:

"I think that the message of the show, which can speak to so many different issues, is that asking for help should be something that we as a society celebrate."
"It's an act of bravery."

The Uncharted actor added:

"Standing up and asking for help is not something you should be ashamed of, and I hope that this show can represent that in a truthful and authentic and, most importantly, sensitive way."
