A Little-Known Sugar Found In Everyday Items Can Be Deadly To Your Dog

Xylitol is a little-known chemical used to sweeten many food products.

It's not a big deal to humans, but when consumed by dogs, it could result in their deaths!

Have you been feeding your dog any of these products that contain xylitol?

News4Jax lists some of the foods that typically contain xylitol:

...peanut butter, cupcakes, cookies, sugar-free gum, muffins, ketchup, protein bars, fruit drinks and pudding.

But the list doesn't stop there! Xylitol can also be found in:

  • Toothpaste (some of which are made specifically for dogs)
  • Deodorant
  • Mouthwash and floss
  • Medications
  • Nasal spray
  • Lotions
  • Gels
  • Vitamins
  • Variety of cosmetics and hair products

When consumed by dogs, xylitol can cause the pancreas to release insulin, resulting in possible "seizures, vomiting, liver failure, a comatose state and...death."

Symptoms begin roughly 15-30 minutes after the dogs eat a xylitol-filled product.

Twitter takes dog safety very seriously.

As always, if you suspect your pooch has consumed xylitol, or another harmful substance, contact the Poison Pet Helpline at 855-764-7661 or reach out to your local veterinarian at once.

Newsom Offers Scathing One-Word Response To 8 Democrats Who Caved And Voted With GOP To End Shutdown

California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the eight Democratic Senators who voted with Republicans to end the government shutdown by advancing a spending deal that notably omits an extension of expanded Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies.

Under the current agreement, the enhanced subsidies would expire, though senators would have the option to revisit the issue later in the year. Supporters of the compromise say that deferring the vote was the only viable path forward, as many Republicans refused to discuss the subsidies until the government reopened.

People Reveal How They Lost Their Jobs To Artificial Intelligence

The concept of artificial intelligence (AI) dates back thousands of years with ancient myths. Later, inventors would create automatons that moved independently through the use of gears, cogs, and springs.
