Nancy Pelosi Just Perfectly Explained What Donald Trump's Census Citizenship Question Is Really About, and Now Trump Has a New Slogan

Accurate.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is known for taking a more measured approach than some of her congressional colleagues when it comes to rebuking President Donald Trump.

But in speaking to constituents in San Francisco regarding Trump's insistence on adding a citizenship question to the 2020 United States census, Pelosi minced no words in calling him out:

"This is about keeping — you know his hat — make America white again. They want to make sure that people, certain people, are counted. It's really disgraceful. And it's not what our founders had in mind. What they want to do is put a chilling effect so certain populations will not answer the form."

Despite a Supreme Court ruling temporary blocking the question from the upcoming census, Trump has continued to push for the question's inclusion, even calling for a delay in its distribution. This is despite the United States constitution mandating the census be performed every 10 years.

Many predict that adding the question would discourage families with undocumented members from accurately filling out the form, resulting in an undercount that could prove detrimental to Americans across the country.

People agreed with Pelosi's blunt assessment.

It's not the first time Pelosi has invoked the slogan, which parodies Trump's infamous campaign mantra, "Make America Great Again."

It remains unclear whether or not the question will or can be added to the 2020 census. Even Trump's own administration appears divided on the matter.
