A top Trump Administration figure, Michael Caputo, is drawing wide criticism after suggesting over the weekend that Democrats are planning an armed left-wing revolt in response to Trump refusing to leave the White House in the event that Joe Biden loses but refuses to concede.

Caputo, the assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services installed by Trump in April, also accused career scientists and CDC figures of "sedition" for their handling of the pandemic.

The comments came during a Facebook Live appearance Caputo gave on Sunday.

Caputo's Facebook Live appearance was full of baseless and unhinged claims about the upcoming election and the CDC's handling of the pandemic.

Claiming that the CDC harbors a "resistance unit" aiming to undermine President Trump, Caputo implied that the non-existent unit was also plotting to kill him in order to get to the President.

"You understand that they're going to have to kill me, and unfortunately, I think that's where this is going."

Caputo then claimed that the ultimate outcome of this move against the President will culminate with Biden refusing to concede the election when he loses, and that armed squads of Democrats will seek to avenge his electoral loss.

"And when Donald Trump refuses to stand down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin. The drills that you've seen are nothing. If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it's going to be hard to get."

It is unclear to what Caputo's claim of "drills" was referring.

Caputo's bizarre claims come in the wake of a wave of news reports detailing the ways Caputo and his team have interfered with the CDC and its efforts at combating the pandemic.

Former and current CDC figures have claimed that Caputo and one of his primary aides have routinely insisted on revisions and delays to the CDC's "Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports," its primary bulletin that alerts the public to public health issues, because its data undermined President Trump's messaging that he had the pandemic under control.

Caputo claimed that the media scrutiny from these reports is destroying his mental health

"I don't like being alone in Washington... [The] shadows on the ceiling in my apartment, there alone, shadows are so long."

His comments come as Trump has repeatedly attempted to cast federal government scientists as trying to undermine his efforts to fight the pandemic for political reasons, baseless accusations that Caputo echoed on Facebook.

"[The scientists] haven't gotten out of their sweatpants except for meetings at coffee shops [to plot] how they're going to attack Donald Trump next. There are scientists who work for this government who do not want America to get well, not until after Joe Biden is president."

On Twitter, many people were mortified by Caputo's unhinged claims.

And some legitimately wondered about Caputo's mental state.

Others sounded warning bells about Caputo's comments indicating how deeply conspiracy theories, and the incitements to violence they frequently inspire, have infiltrated the highest levels of government.

Caputo, who has well established ties to the Kremlin, was installed by the White House in April reportedly to exert more control over Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, whom the dismissed in January as an "alarmist" when he tried to alert the administration to the dangers of the pandemic in January.

Design For New Commemorative Coin Featuring Trump Just Dropped—And People Can't Believe It's Real

On March 19, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), comprising people appointed by MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, unanimously approved a final design concept proposed for a 24-karat gold United States semiquincentennial commemorative coin.

Instead of featuring the Declaration of Independence or some other images central to the foundation of the nation in 1776 or more universally recognized symbols from the last 250 years, the CFA chose a sketch based on a photo of Trump leaning over the Resolute desk in the Oval Office for the coin's obverse or "heads" side.

Gavin Newsom Said What We're All Thinking About Trump's Decision To Deploy ICE To Airports

After President Donald Trump moved to deploy ICE agents to U.S. airports amid a partial government shutdown that has caused exceptionally long delays at TSA lines nationwide, California Governor Gavin Newsom pointed out exactly why the move is so troubling for citizens and non-citizens alike.

ICE agents are still getting paid during the shutdown, unlike TSA agents, who are currently working unpaid and struggling amid the affordability crisis. News outlets have confirmed ICE agents have been deployed in airports that serve Democratic strongholds, particularly John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports (New York), O'Hare International Airport (Chicago), and others.
