If you assume that middle-aged male celebrities don't fall prey to the same kind of eyeroll-worthy jokes as your dad? Well rapper and actor Ice-T is here to set you straight.

The hip hop icon and star of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit had Twitter gasping in horror after he tweeted about being robbed at a New Jersey gas station earlier this week.

But those gasps quickly turned to groans once they got to the end of the tweet and the whole thing turned out to be an elaborate bait-and-switch joke about high gas prices. Oh boy.

See his tweet below.

Corny as it is, Ice-T's joke is pretty expertly crafted.

Right out the gate, you're right there with him, feeling his palpable nerves from being mugged.

"I was robbed at a gas station in NJ last night. After my hands stopped trembling..I managed to call the cops and they were quick to respond and calmed me down....."

That is heart-pounding stuff.

And the stakes only increase as the tweet goes on.

"My money is gone.. the police asked me if I knew who did it..I said yes.."

This is more edge-of-the-seat exhilarating than most episodes of Ice-T's TV show!

And then you get to the big reveal.

"it was pump number 9…"

Ugggggh... COME ON ICE-T!

Giphy

But listen, don't hate the player, hate the game—he had us going right up to the very last word, which is pretty solid work as jokes go.

On Twitter of course, Ice-T's little gag had people both rolling their eyes and applauding the perfect bait-and-switch.

Though gas prices have started to creep downward in parts of the country, they're still approaching record highs.

It may be cheesy, but you can't say Ice-T's tweet wasn't relatable.

MAGA Fumes Over Fox Gun Control Talk

The nation is reeling after yesterday’s mass shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, where a gunman opened fire during a Catholic school Mass, killing two children and injuring more than a dozen others. The tragedy has not only shaken the community but also reignited the national debate over guns in America—this time sparked by an unlikely voice.

Former Republican congressman and Fox News host of Sunday Night in America, Trey Gowdy—long seen as a staunch defender of gun rights and a past recipient of National Rifle Association contributions—surprised many of his own allies when he called for a national reckoning on firearms access.

Spotify Just Announced That They're Adding A DM Feature—And Here Come The Jokes

One of the most frustrating experiences with using social media and other interactive platforms is the desire for a specific feature, only for the designers behind the platform to roll out a feature that no one asked for.

On X (formerly Twitter), many people have asked for an editing feature on published Tweets, while users on Bluesky have asked for better methods to categorize posts. Naturally, both platforms have rolled out video features instead.

Lil Nas X Speaks Out

Lil Nas X’s summer swerved from chart-topping to chaotic after his arrest in Los Angeles last week. The Grammy-winning “Industry Baby” rapper, born Montero Lamar Hill, found himself in the middle of a late-night spiral that ended with felony charges, a hospital stay, and a video to fans that was equal parts rattled and reassuring.

According to reports from last week, Hill was spotted drifting in and out of a Hollywood hotel before wandering the streets in nothing but underwear and cowboy boots.
