Sunny Hostin Reveals She 'Almost Died' On 'The View' After Allergic Reaction To Guest's Food

Hostin explained how former The View co-host Debbie Matenopoulos brought some samples of Greek food from her new cookbook to the show last week—and Hostin didn't realize until it was too late that she was allergic to an ingredient.

In a cooking segment on The View, Sunny Hostin “almost died” after accidentally sampling a recipe from Debbie Matenopoulos’ new Greek cookbook, Greek.ish.

Matenopoulos was one of the original co-hosts on The View when it premiered in 1997, alongside Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, and Joy Behar. Formerly an MTV production assistant, Matenopoulos was asked to be the youngest co-host on Walters’ new talk show until 1999, when the show decided not to renew her contract.

Matenopoulos recently told Page Six Radio that she’s in talks to join the next season of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Last Wednesday, Matenopoulos visited her old set and had the hosts try the Orzo salad, which contained chickpeas, tomatoes, and walnuts. Walnuts are what Hostin is deathly allergic to, and she discreetly panicked while trying to notify her co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Hostin, 56, explained on Friday’s show:

“She has this wonderful food, Greek food. And I have a terrible allergy to walnuts. As I'm eating the food, Alyssa asks, 'Are those walnuts in here?' And she says 'yes.' So I panic immediately.”

You can see Hostin write a note to Griffin once she realized what's happened.

After notifying Griffin of the allergy, she motioned to the show’s executive producer, Brian Teta, who asked, “Everything okay?” Hostin quipped, “No, it’s not.”

Luckily, the medical team was able to assist Hostin after the segment by administering an EpiPen.

Thanking the team, Hostin said:

“Our Disney nurses are like superheroes. Nurse Jan came in with an EpiPen. She was testing me. I had Benadryl… I was scared.”

Hostin hasn’t had the issue in over ten years, as she often forgets to report dietary restrictions unless her husband or children remind her. Griffin hilariously admitted that she couldn’t read Hostin’s note at first and thought she was writing about a pair of Gucci shoes. Hostin thanked her and the crew for remaining calm in the moment, despite her own panic.

GOP Senator Faces MAGA Backlash Over Plan To Sell Millions Of Acres Of Public Land

Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee is facing harsh criticism—including from Team MAGA—over his proposal to sell off millions of acres of public land in the American West owned by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service to supposedly create more affordable housing.

Lee claimed in his proposal that there is an "extensive process for interested parties like States and local governments to nominate land for disposal to meet housing and community needs," noting that it specifically exempts national parks, monuments, and federally designated wilderness areas from potential land sales.

Trump Ripped For Complaining That Americans Get 'Too Many' Federal Holidays Off Work

While it was ultimately former President Joe Biden who established Juneteenth as a federal holiday, President Donald Trump—who once campaigned on that promise—took to Truth Social on Juneteenth to whine about the number of "non-working holidays" Americans get, claiming that it costs businesses "billions of dollars."

Juneteenth is derived from June 19, 1865, when Union troops led by General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and declared that all enslaved African Americans in the state were free.

Woman Shares Why She Refuses To Tell Her Late Dad's Mistress Of 30 Years That He Died

While it doesn't always happen, sometimes we get to see karma at work—and sometimes, the revenge is sweet.

TikToker @cassdamm, who previously went viral for sharing the unhinged, five-page letter her 15-year-old son's principal sent, complaining about him "wandering the halls" and "being truant" for buying a drink on his way back to class, is openly celebrating the death of her father, but it's not for the reason you'd think.
