Hicks has been one of Trump's longest and most trusted advisers since long before he entered politics.

Hope Hicks, long-time Trump confidante and now outgoing White House Communications Director admitted on Wednesday that she regularly tells "white lies" for President Donald Trump.

While giving private testimony to the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, soon-to-be former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks refused to answer questions about her White House tenure when questioned by members of the House's investigative body.

Hope Hicks Reportedly Admits To Lying, And Now People Want Answers

The White House communications director said her job requires "white lies," The New York Times reports.

"All of our questions about what went into that statement went unanswered," said House Intelligence Committee Co-Chair Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA). "I have less hope we'll get to all the answers," added Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL). "As with anyone who doesn't answer questions, they ought to be subpoenaed."

What those "white lies" consisted of remains unknown. Hicks declined further comment "after extended consultation with her lawyers."

Hicks did however acknowledge that she learned about the infamous Trump Tower meeting between members of the Trump campaign and Russian officials in 2016.

The Internet is demanding answers.

Could these be the "white lies?"

Ali Davis has a guess. Maybe "white lies" are "the kind of lies for which white people of means generally do not get prosecuted."

Late Wednesday afternoon, Hicks tendered her resignation as White House Communications Director.

"There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to President Trump," Hicks said in a statement. "I wish the President and his administration the very best as he continues to lead our country."

Trump expressed his regret over Hicks's resignation:

"Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years. She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future."

The reason for her resignation? She's tired of lying, perhaps. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Brian Krassenstein thinks Hicks may have realized that her "white lies" may not be so innocent after all.

Hicks is the latest Trump administration official to step down and to date, the one closest to the President to do so. She is expected to leave her post "in the coming weeks or months."

Merriam-Webster noted that "'White lie' is our top search after the resignation of Hope Hicks."

Gavin Newsom Hilariously Trolls Trump For Struggling To Stay Awake During Antifa Roundtable

California Governor Gavin Newsom mocked President Donald Trump for appearing to fall asleep during a White House roundtable about Antifa, which the administration recently designated a "domestic terror organization" even though it's not an organization at all.

Antifa is a loose network of anti-fascist activists with no central structure, no funding, no membership roster, and no offices or leadership hierarchy for prosecutors to target.

Remote Worker Speaks Out After Job Uses 'Dystopian' Software To Track His Productivity

There are a few vital truths to every office-based job. First, there are going to be "busy work" moments, from meetings to admin tasks to minor side-quest-style projects that add to the company in some small way but otherwise feel like a waste of time.

Second, as human beings, we all need breaks to restore our mental focus, so a person who occasionally scrolls through their personal email, sends a few texts to a friend, or even scrolls Instagram for a few minutes, will likely be more productive than those who attempt to lock in and do nothing but their job throughout their entire shift.
