Dwyane Wade Gracefully Defends 12-Year-Old Son After Trolls Shame Him For His Appearance In Family Photo

Former NBA player Dwyane Wade is putting the haters in their place after posting an image of his happy family at Thanksgiving.

In the photo, his 12-year-old son, Zion Malachi Airamis, is sporting long nails and a crop-top.

The photo prompted some criticism from the less tolerant sides of Instagram and Twitter.

But Wade knew exactly how to respond to anyone who had negative things to say about his son.

Wade wrote on Twitter:

"I've seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is [a part] of this world we live in—so i get it. But here's the thing—I've been chosen to lead my family not y'all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!"

As other people sounded off in support of Wade's family, he clarified his mission as a father.

This is far from the first time Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, have demonstrated acceptance of both their children.

After Wade posted a picture of Union, Zion and their infant daughter Kaavia with the caption "my girls," Union made sure people recognized it for what it was.

The parents both supported Zion when he marched in Miami's Pride parade, though Wade couldn't be there in person.

People on Twitter wished more parents out there could be as supportive and open as Wade and Union.

Love should never be conditional.

Zion isn't hurting anyone by making choices about what's right for him.

Wade has set a standard of acceptance and love that we should all try to meet.

Hopefully all parents can learn to be as great as Wade and Union in time.
