Cruise Ship Captain Becomes Instant Legend After Clapping Back At Sexist Troll Who Questioned Her Rank

A female cruise ship captain is making waves on the internet after a troll tried to take her down with a sexist comment.

Captain Kate McCue has a big social media following. She has the distinction of being the first American woman to garner the title of captain on a "mega" cruise ship—an accomplishment that takes years in a highly competitive environment.

She is currently employed by Celebrity Cruises and is the captain of the Celebrity Edge.

Threatened by a woman with a high ranking title, an anonymous scallywag tweeted:

"How can you be a captain? Your [sic] only a woman."

McCue decided to respond, but addressing the troll's poor grammar was only the beginning.

Twitter user @jadedcreative shared the resulting video McCue posted on her TikTok.

In the video, McCue explained what typically happens when coming across hateful messages on her feed.

"Normally as I'm scrolling through comments and I see something like this, I totally ignore and move on with my life."
"But I think it's about high time I address this because it's 2020."
"And in this day and age I am shocked that someone still doesn't know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'."

The captain gave examples of using the possessive word and the contraction of "you are" properly in sentences.

"A quick reference: 'you're' as in 'you are', like 'you are sexist'.
'Your' is something possessive, because it belongs to you, like 'your ignorance'.

To show there were no hard feelings, she continued:

"But don't worry, I'm here for you."
"If you need any more clarification, you can find me here."
"In my captain's chair."

Twitter praised her "brilliant" take down.

It appears the captain's grammar lesson was taught well.

Class dismissed.
