There's no denying Sydney Sweeney's insanity of a career over the last few years.
Hello, Euphoria, The White Lotus, Anyone but You and literally a dozen others.
But one person who dares to deny her talent and looks (oh myyyy) is producer Carol Baum.
The veteran producer of films such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Father of the Bride and Kicking and Screaming recently said Sweeney is "not pretty" and "can't act."
After a screening of the 1988 film Dead Ringers at the Jacob Burns Film Center in New York last week, Baum told the audience and moderator and New York Times critic Janet Maslin that she was baffled as to how Sweeney is currently "so hot."
According to the Daily Mail, Baum went on a rant about the actor and her recent flick Anyone but You.
āThereās an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney."
āI donāt get Sydney Sweeney.ā
"I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeneyās movie because I wanted to watch it."
āI wanted to know who she is and why everybodyās talking about her."
"I watched this unwatchable movie ā sorry to people who love this movie ā [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other.ā
She continued, referencing a discussion she had with the producing class she teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
āI said to my class, āExplain this girl to me.'"
"'Sheās not pretty, she canāt act. Why is she so hot?ā"
Sweeney's fans immediately had her back on social media.
Oscar-nominated Producer Teddy Schwarzman, who worked with Sweeney on her latest film Immaculate, also took to social media to defend the star.
He tweeted:
āAs a producer of āImmaculate,ā Iāll enlighten Ms. Baum that two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney is not only one of the most talented actresses Iāve worked with, but also incredibly smart, kind and humble."

Oddly enough, Baum wouldn't hesitate to put Sweeney in one of her films.
Responding to an inquiry on the subject, she said:
"Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, āWell if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?ā"
"I said, 'Well thatās a really good question⦠thatās a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know."
"Your job is to get the movie made.'"
A rep for Sweeney released a statement to HuffPost on Wednesday, slamming Baum for her comments.
āHow sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman."
āIf thatās what sheās learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, thatās shameful.ā
Agreed!
