Tucker Carlson, a television personality well known for spouting White nationalist talking points and right-wing conspiracy theories, took to his show in a contradictory opinion piece about masks.

Carlson played a clip of President Joe Biden and got upset he would wear a mask outside when the CDC’s recommendation does not recommend this.

Then, in the same episode, Carlson insulted Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) of New York, for not wearing a mask outside.

Pick a side, Tucker.

The Center for Disease Control website for COVID-19 says:

“In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings.”

But it also says:

“In areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.”

While this doesn’t mandate masks, masks are still a positive step toward preventing the spread of the virus. The recent Omicron variant of the disease has some scientists suggesting better masks to control the virus.

All this to say the President wearing a mask helps encourage people to wear one too. But to Carlson, wearing a mask is “completely bonkers.”

That is, unless you’re AOC, in which case, shame on you.

“[AOC] went to Florida on vacation with her boyfriend, and of course she didn’t wear a mask.”

Pictures of AOC and her boyfriend sitting outside at a bar in Miami went viral, with right-wingers calling her a hypocrite because she wasn’t wearing a mask while eating and drinking.

However, she’s not only outside, she’s not around anyone else to spread the virus.

Basically, damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

The fact Carlson still has people watching his show for information is troubling.

In addition to being contradictory within the same episode, he’s also admitted multiple times the things he rails against aren’t things he even understands. He and his network's lawyers also admitted Carlson lies frequently and no reasonable person should believe anything he says.

Musk has made clear that he vehemently opposes the president's One Big Beautiful Bill—and will work to unseat any Republicans who've supported it, saying they've "voted for the biggest debt increase in history." He founded the new political party on July 5, the day after Trump signed the legislation, which adds roughly $3.3 trillion to the national debt.
