Over the course of her four months in Congress, Republican Representative and prominent conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has repeatedly accosted and berated her Democratic colleagues.
Greene was stripped of her committee assignments by these same colleagues after reports broke that she'd repeatedly endorsed the execution of Democratic members of Congress before being elected. In campaign ads, Greene also posed with an assault weapon next to pictures of progressive Congresswomen. Representative Cori Bush (D-MO) felt unsafe after one confrontation with Greene and felt the need to change her Congressional office location.
But few have been a more prominent target of Greene's belligerence than progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York—a favorite target of the far-right.
For weeks, Greene has begged Ocasio-Cortez, colloquially known as "AOC," to debate her, and the Washington Post reported on Thursday that Greene even followed AOC around the House floor, demanding a debate and accusing Ocasio-Cortez of being a terrorist sympathizer who hates the United States.
For her part, Ocasio-Cortez hasn't given Greene's demands the dignity of a response, but the Congresswoman did comment on the latest harassment from Greene after CNN Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju asked for her thoughts.
According to Raju, AOC said:
"I used to work as a bartender. These are the kinds of people that I threw out of bars all the time."
She later used the statement to remind her millions of Twitter followers to tip their servers.
Friendly reminder to keep generously tipping your bartenders, servers, delivery, venue, and hospitality workers. https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1392935534348148737 …— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) 1620938941
Greene was...less restrained.
.@AOC you’ve never thrown anyone out of a bar, you’re too scared to talk to anyone.

You’re too weak & afraid to debate me about your own socialist policy that would plunge your own constituents into poverty.

You only know how to hide and play victim.https://thehill.com/homenews/house/553459-ocasio-cortez-on-taylor-greene-these-are-the-kinds-of-people-that-i-threw-out?amp&__twitter_impression=true …— Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸 (@Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸) 1620945675
.@AOC if you want to be a role model for young women then stop acting like a hate America communist supporting terrorists that want to kill people and destroy our freedoms.

Stop supporting policies that kill jobs, destroy their future, and encourage women to kill their babies.— Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸 (@Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸) 1620955552
But it was Ocasio-Cortez whose rebuttal was widely praised.
I'm liking AOC more and more.https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1392935534348148737 …— Doctor Dan (@Doctor Dan) 1620939754

And Greene's demands for a debate have only made her look desperate to social media users.
It’s funny watching @mtgreenee try to engage @AOC in a debate. Why would AOC debate someone who is obviously so out of her league. Like an annoying fly to be swatted away. Ignore the bully AOC.https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1392973241514344448 …— Sherry Bruck (@Sherry Bruck) 1620993653

This Q nut needs to quit politics & go become part of the WWE with this stupid, juvenile, threatening talk. What's she gonna do next, come after @AOC with a metal folding chair? She needs to be in a place where she can swing around on her monkey bars & get into fights.https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1392973241514344448 …— Marnie Jackson 🕊️ 🛡️ 🌊🌊🌊🌊😷 (@Marnie Jackson 🕊️ 🛡️ 🌊🌊🌊🌊😷) 1620960898
Shut up. You yelled at her and harassed her. That is no way to have a debate. Stop being a rude moron.

She would debate you, if you would debate in good faith, and she would wipe the floor with you.

Stop chasing clout.https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1392973241514344448 …— cheese (@cheese) 1620958629
The debate is not expected to happen any time soon, if at all.
