Anyone who's ever planned a surprise for their spouse or significant other knows there is always the potential for something to go horribly wrong.

Partly because you simply don't know how they'll react.

Mackenzie Lynn—@kenzielynnsmith on TikTok—was initially disappointed when her husband didn't react to the sexy surprise she planned for him quite like she hoped he would.

But she would soon learn why his reaction was the opposite of elation, much to her embarrassment.

She shared her surprise gone wrong on TikTok.

In the six days since being posted, the video has drawn over 18 million views.

The 43-second video began with a shot of lacy lingerie, with both the overlay and voiceover sharing how Mackenzie Lynn was planning on putting them to use.

"Going out to the car to get my husband's reaction."

The video then cut to Mackenzie Lynn saying she was going to go get changed and expressing her hope her husband was going to be pleased with the surprise.

The camera then moved into her closet, where she debated whether or not to include some black boots with thick heels as part of her ensemble, which she ultimately decided against fearing it would be "too much."

We then got a view of her bare legs, standing at the entryway to her garage.

Mackenzie Lynn told viewers her husband had just pulled up, before she panned the camera to make sure none of her neighbors would also be privy to the surprise meant exclusively for her husband.

Once more giving viewers a glimpse of her bare feet and legs, she felt it was time to "make a run for it" as she ran across her driveway.

The camera then cut to Mackenzie Lynn's husband still in the driver's seat, but with his head buried in his hands appearing to be less than excited by her attire.

When she finally greeted him, he gave an acknowledging nod but still made no reference to her clothing or lack thereof.

Though initially confused, Mackenzie Lynn would soon discover why her husband's reaction wasn't what she hoped it would be, as a high pitched voice could be heard saying "well, hi sweetie, don't you look cute!" off-camera.

The voice belonged to the grandmother of Mackenzie Lynn's husband, though we never caught a glimpse of her face, only her leg.

Her husband then told her his grandmother "wanted to check out the new car", and after some embarrassed mumbling from Mackenzie Lynn, the video abruptly ended.

Though we never got to see for ourselves how she reacted to "Gram's" presence, her fellow TikToker's seemed to be more than embarrassed for her in the video's comments.

Others, however, didn't seem to think she had anything to be embarrassed about, as they believed the video was staged particularly as the face of the grandmother in the back seat was never shown.

Others pointed out the reaction of Mackenzie Lynn's husband, which they had trouble believing couldn't be genuine.

One almost hopes this was staged, as this is bound to make all future visits with this grandmother rather interesting to say the least.

But staged or not, this video is bound to serve as a lesson in the do's and don't of surprising one's significant other.

Particularly if there's lingerie involved.
