For generations, film has been a cornerstone of culture.

They make us feel deeply, laugh, and cry.

And sometimes it's the bad movies that leave the biggest impression.

Who hasn't seen a movie that was utterly baffling and then laughed about it with friends for decades?

Years ago me and a bestie saw 'JasonX: Jason in Space."

We laughed until we peed.

I fell out of my seat and into the aisle... and I lay on that floor lifeless.

Here it is, one of my favorite horror franchises reduced to C movie comedy.

We STILL laugh about it.

Redditor ApprehensiveBasil151 wanted to discuss the cinema we wish to forget, so they asked:

"What is one movie you wish you never saw?"

Too Soon

"The Final Destination."

"At least not when I was 8. Had nightmares for about a week and was scared of escalators for years."

Disgusting

"Human Centipede. One and done, I always say."

- LordTonka

"Roger Ebert, RIP, had the best review for Human Centipede. 'I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited for this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don't shine.'"

- So-What_Idontcare

"I watched it because I thought it was a good movie with a disturbing premise. Turns out it’s not even a good movie. Acting and cinematography were very disappointing."

- cambium7

Not that Film

"A Serbian Film."

"I remember reading a professional review that ended basically with (not verbatim, and I may be misquoting, but it’s close) 'And if after reading this review you still want to see it I have completely failed you as a journalist. This was not a movie, it was 2 hours of having my soul destroyed.'"

- PurpleSunCraze

"I can usually find some sort of redeeming quality in things I watch but I found this movie completely irredeemable."

- _Barry_Zuckerkorn_

Such a Waste

"The Many Saints of Newark. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed with a film I was really excited about."

- JonMatrix

"The only saving grace is Alessandro Nivola’s performance as Dickie."

"Also, the film is only slightly better if it is viewed as a narration from his son Chrissy from beyond the grave; why else would Junior be the one to kill Dickie and why would he be a shining example for young Tony, especially when the show explicitly mentions how Tony became who he is BECAUSE Dickie brought him in?"

- IvanTheTerrible69

Relive It

"Mad Max: Fury Road, so I could experience it for the first time all over again."

- Temperance10

"I don't like it at all. It's a spectacle, sure, but I need a story to go with my action otherwise there's nothing to keep my interest. A spectacle though it may be, there's nothing to sustain the run time."

- FlameFeather86

"Watched it for like the third time in an artsy theater with an incredible sound system. Legitimately the best film experience of my life. The whole room would vibrate whenever engines were revved yet somehow it wasn’t too loud."

- cambium7

Wasted Time

"Madame Webb. I ain't getting that time or money back."

- MmanS197

"I watched it online on a piracy website and I’m glad I didn’t waste money on it. I was just waiting and waiting for it to get interesting."

- Odd-Plant4779

The Dead Girl

"The Ring traumatized me as a child. Specifically the scene when they open up the closet to the girl being dead."

- moodyjudytakethekeys

"I saw this in the theater and thought, 'Thank goodness it's over' after the well being discovered under the cabin floor. And then like 10 minutes later going 'Why have the credits not rolled?' and then realizing the nightmare wasn't over. I didn't sleep for weeks as I had a 40" CRT Monitor in my bedroom that sat at the end of my bed on my desk and the way the light was cast on it in the middle of the night I swore I hallucinated/night terror more than once a girl climbed out of it into my bed. 10/10 would experience it again."

- Igot1forya

Never Again

"Tusk."

- cece92

"This is the only movie I can think of that makes me feel so uncomfortable every time I think about it, and I can't even explain why. If you explain the premise of this movie to someone, it sounds so stupid and absurd, but it ends up being a really awkward and upsetting experience."

- Danny_Notion

"I wish I could unwatch that damn movie."

- WellHiddenDragon

Viewer's Remorse

"Grave of the fireflies. I get weepy whenever I used to see the little tin cans of candy at the Asian supermarkets."

- 295DVRKSS

"I love the movie, but I totally understand having viewer's remorse. It is intensely depressing at times. I'd probably rank it as one of my 5 favorite Ghibli movies from the perspective of artistic appreciation, but I've only seen it all the way through 3 times. Compare that to my other favorites like Kiki's Delivery Service or Only Yesterday which I have watched more times than I can count."

- Shorthawk

No Explanation

"I went to Battlefield Earth on opening weekend."

- syncpulse

"I saw it at the cinema when I was 13 or so with a group of mates and we all loved it. I could never understand why everyone hated on it. Watched it again years later and it all made sense why haha. That said, I do periodically go back and watch it. It’s terrible but I get good nostalgia vibes off it."

- MyKoiNamedSwimShady

"I was trying to explain this movie to my wife, and realized I may have to sit through it again, just so she believes me about how terrible it was. 😂."

- GeeAyyy

WOOF!

" CATS!"

- kitten_toots

"Rob Sheridan live-tweeting about this movie while tripping on shrooms is one of the funniest things I've ever read."

Discombobulated

"Vivarium."

- amr2822

"I had viewed this film and was shaken. I never really watch the ending credits scroll of a movie but the song made me sit there and look around in an utter discombobulated state."

"I tried to explain to my friend how I felt after watching the movie but I couldn't find the right words to explain it. She watched it later and said 'I didn't think it was scary at all.' I told her that it wasn't scary for me but that it made me anxious/tense about life."

- StellaMaroo

Please Don't

"Both Percy Jackson movies because you know something is messed up when even the authors ask them not to release the movie because that is no longer his story."

- lunachappell

"I get your general point but I still don't know something is messed up. Not everything translates well to film, and when adapting something, choices have to be made. Authors can be pissed by the mere idea that something is changed instead of a line-for-line adaption. It could just as well be him not liking a specific thing. It was impossible to say beforehand."

- Kammander-Kim

Ruining Legacy

"The Rise of Skywalker. The entire thing is just bad fanfiction."

- DarthLeon2

"I saw it in theaters and thought it was terrible. Then I read reviews and all the negative press about it to confirm my thoughts. Then I forgot about its existence for 6 months. Then I tried to watch it again because 'it can't be THAT bad.' I lasted 20 minutes and it was even worse than I remembered. That film almost single-handedly killed the most profitable franchise in history. If Disney had come at the franchise with the goal of completely killing it things would probably have turned out better than they did. This is coming from a guy who, at 11, had the entirety of Episodes 1 and 2 memorized and read 10-15 of the novels.

The fact that 'somehow Palpatine returned' is now the go-to reference for anything that's insane and/or stupid is the s**t icing on the sh** cake."

- MidnighToker420

Wait Awhile

"Hereditary. I don’t wish I never watched it, I just wished I'd have waited a few more years to watch it. 15 was too young."
