The American Music Awards were last Monday, and a popular point of discussion was none other than prolific pop singer Bebe Rexha, but the topic, unfortunately, wasn't about her music.
Rexha appeared at the award show in an all-black Jean Paul Gaultier fit, complete with a corset top, a fitted leather skirt with a thigh-high slit, paired with stacked belts and fishnet stockings.
Many were excited to see Rexha at the show and complimented her look, some even including her on their lists of "Best Dressed" celebrities. Unfortunately, there were other people who left hateful comments, insinuating that the pop star has gained weight since her last major public appearance.
One tweet in particular caught the singer's attention, sharing a side-by-side photo of "then and now," the "now" photo pulled from her evening at the American Music Awards.
The tweet asked:
"Singer Bebe Rexha is going viral after fans noticed how different she looked at the American Music Awards. Be honest... what's your first thought?"
Rexha decided to flip the script and shared the tweet, stating:
"My thought is... My new album dirty blonde is out June 12th."
"Available for pre order now."
Rexha took the conversation one step further, sharing a video on TikTok that pleasantly surprised audiences.
In a text overlay on the screen, she wrote:
"Sorry, I'm never gonna stop eating."
At the beginning of the video, Rexha appears physically uncomfortable, holding her stomach and bending over, almost as if she's aching with hunger.
Then the video transitions from her luxury pajama set to her fit from the American Music Awards night.
The video is an obvious play on the word "eating," first to mean literally eating, since haters immediately contribute any trace of weight gain to either overeating or unhealthy eating, and then to mean "eating," like being impressive.

@beberexha Sorry not sorry 🤏
The play on words was not lost on Rexha's fans.

Maybe her haters thought they were actually accomplishing something with their hateful comments, but Rexha knows exactly who she is, and she's not going to apologize for it. More of us could learn a thing or two from her!
