CNN host Abby Phillip couldn't hide her disbelief after Republican pundit Scott Jennings attempted to defend Trump's plan for the U.S. to "own" Gaza.

CNN host Abby Phillip's facial expression spoke volumes after Republican pundit Scott Jennings defended President Donald Trump for asserting his bonkers plan for Gaza.

During a press conference in Washington, D.C., with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, Trump suggested that the U.S. could "take over" and "own" the war-torn territory.

Trump said the U.S. would "take over the Gaza Strip" in a "long-term ownership position" and "level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area." He said this could become "the Riviera of the Middle East" with "representatives from all over the world" living there.

However, Trump also proposed relocating some of Gaza’s estimated two million residents, suggesting they could be moved to Jordan or Egypt if those countries would "open their hearts and give us the kind of land that we need to get this done."

During a panel discussion with Jennings and Palestinian foreign policy analyst and journalist Rula Jebreal, Phillip noted that Trump was suggesting "forcibly removing Palestinians from their land" only to be met with pushback from Jennings, who brushed aside concerns that Trump is violating international law, saying:

“I think we’re being a little dramatic, and we’re on our jump-to-conclusions mat here a little bit. He muses occasionally."

Phillip could not hide how she felt at all.

When she said that Jennings was "suggesting that we are making this up," he replied:

“No, I’m not suggesting anything. Now you’re putting words in my mouth. I’m saying you and I both know he muses occasionally, and he’s aspirational, and he says provocative things occasionally.”

Phillip shut him down:

“Donald Trump, with his own words, said this is what he wants to do. He wasn’t musing. He was looking down at a piece of paper."
"I’ve been in a room with him, just like that, with foreign leaders, looking down at a piece of paper. He is reading a statement that was prepared for him. Those are not musings.”

You can watch what happened in the video below.

Jennings was criticized for his remarks.

Trump's remarks prompted Democratic Representative Al Green of Texas to file articles of impeachment against him—a sign that Democrats definitely do not think Trump is just "musing."

In remarks on the House floor, Green said "ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the President of the United States, the most powerful person in the world."

Green also criticized Netanyahu's complicity, saying Netanyahu "should be ashamed, knowing the history of his people, to stand there and allow such things to be said."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had people raising their eyebrows after he made an out-of-touch remark at the World Economic Forum about the number of homes people purchase for their retirement, claiming at a time when Americans are struggling with a nationwide cost-of-living crisis that some are purchasing as many as "12 homes" for their golden years.

Bessent described the administration’s strategy to limit the role of large institutional buyers in the single-family housing market, while preserving protections for smaller, independent landlords, including those who rely on rental properties for retirement income.
