People across the internet have flocked to congratulate the family behind a new TikTok video showing a father proudly stand by his gay son's side as he hung a flag outside their house for Pride Month.

With Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" crooning in the video's background, the father looked into the camera and grinned, "we're fixing to shock Oklahoma," showing no hesitation for what might have been a surprise for the other people in their neighborhood.

BuzzFeed News caught up with the John and Caden Wyatt, the father and son featured in the viral video.

Caden shared how grateful he was for his family's acceptance.

"I'm really lucky to have such supportive parents, because I know a lot of other people aren't as lucky as me."

John shared how, despite his conservative and religious upbringing, supporting his son was a no-brainer.

"That's when we really started embracing [the community], because we knew our son was gay, and at any time he could come out."
"And he needed to see that we were going to be able to support him and be there for him."
John shared why he felt it was important to encourage hanging the flag.
"There's a lot of Q flags in our neighborhood, a lot of Trump flags and Blue Lives Matter Flags, [but] you don't see any pride flags at all."
"We're letting people know it's a safe place," John said. "I'm not trying to cause any controversy in the neighborhood, but maybe there's some person out there who will see that flag and smile and feel safe."

Clearly, John's parenting has done the trick. Caden told BuzzFeed how confident he feels in himself.

"I was kind of nervous at first, because I didn't know how people were going to act, but I just don't really care what they think anymore."
"I'm just going to be myself."

Fortunately, the Wyatt's were happy to report they've had very little noticeable reaction since hanging the flag.

Last week, President Donald Trump saw an opening to get late-night host Jimmy Kimmel off the air and successfully pressured ABC to do so following comments Kimmel made about the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk.

DOJ Slammed For Dropping Investigation Into Trump Official Who Accepted Bribe From Undercover FBI Agents

MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's current "border czar," Tom Homan, served as the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Trump's first presidential term.

Between Trump terms, Homan accepted bribes from businesses for his promise to funnel lucrative government contracts to them if Trump was reelected. Or at least that's what he promised to do when he accepted $50,000 from undercover FBI agents.

Trump Tells Reporters To 'Fly Safely' Before Making Bonkers Comment That's Peak Trump

President Donald Trump was criticized after he boarded Air Force One with reporters and told them to "fly safely" before making a remark that told them exactly how little he cares about them—to say nothing about the rest of us.

The presidential plane was due to fly back to the United States from the United Kingdom, where Trump's visit, his first since 2019, was marred by significant protests.

Amanda Seyfried Pens Powerful Response After Facing Conservative Backlash For Calling Charlie Kirk 'Hateful'

The exploitation of the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk by MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, members of his administration, and the MAGAsphere has turned a right-wing commentator often criticized for his rhetoric into a martyr above reproach.

Media personalities and ordinary people are being censured and censored for just quoting Kirk's own less palatable words or for criticizing how the real Charlie Kirk has been obliterated by those conservatives sanitizing his life while seeking to gain from his death.
