Ohio Man's Reason For Consuming Nothing But Beer During Lent Is Actually Pretty Legit

Ohio Man's Reason For Consuming Nothing But Beer During Lent Is Actually Pretty Legit
YouTube | Del Hall

Del Hall is the director of sales at Fifty West Brewing Company, which is based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Many people give up alcohol for Lent, which commemorates the 40 days that Jesus fasted in the desert according to Christian theology. However, Hall is doing the opposite. He is only drinking beer until Easter.

Hall says that he was inspired by German monks from the 1600s. They brewed a beer during lent called a doppelbock, which is richer in carbs, and drank only that rather than eating solid foods.

Hall explained to Insider...

"I feel like if I do this, and I finish the 46 days, and I'm a sane man, moving forward, if I'm presented with an unhealthy food option, I can say I don't need to eat that right now."

We're not quite sure how drinking beer only for 46 days can help someone stay away from fried food, but sure, we'll go with it. Hall went on to explain that he plans to document the whole experience a la Super Size Me.

He's even graced us with daily update videos.
