Fox Host Masterfully Shuts Down Trump Spokesman for Claiming Polls Showing Trump Behind Are 'Junk'

President Donald Trump remains far behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden in national polls, along with numerous swing state polls.

According to some of these, Biden even holds a narrow lead in solid red Texas.

Trump's 2020 Campaign press secretary Hogan Gidley attempted to discredit these polls on Fox Business Network, but anchor Dagen McDowell was quick to challenge him.

McDowell cited a new Fox News poll that shows the President trailing Biden by 17 points when it comes to handling of the virus.

Gidley responded:

"Well first, of all, a lot of those polls are junk. We can argue about methodology and science—"

McDowell was having none of it:

"That's a cop-out. That's a cop-out. You can argue that they don't indicate how the election turns out, that's fine, but that's just a cop-out, Hogan."

Gidley responded:

"They are skewed to the left, but if we're talking about [the virus], that's the beauty of this election. So many times, we're talking in the abstract, what would it look like if somebody were president? You don't have to guess what it would like for pandemic response under Joe Biden. He was in the office of the White House for eight years. And when H1N1 — swine flu — hit this country, all he did was shut down testing."

According to CDC data, H1N1 killed 12,469 Americans over the course of one year. Over the course of six months, under Trump's leadership, the current virus has killed over 150 thousand Americans. That death toll continues to rise.

This isn't even the first time Gidley's been reprimanded on Fox for his attempts to discredit polls that aren't in Trump's favor.

The press secretary claimed polling was "fake" just last week, and Fox and Friends host Brian Kilmeade raked him over the coals.

Watch below.

Kilmeade said:

"I know the people that do the polls. They don't do it fake, they do a really good job. They might not be accurate in the end, I don't know, but...they're math and they're professional, so don't call the Fox News pollsters fake."

The Trump campaign routinely dismisses polls, and in one case, Trump himself even demanded an apology from CNN's polling team for what he said was a deliberately fake poll.

People agreed with McDowell that dismissing polls collectively as "junk" was, indeed, a cop-out.

The polls showing wide leads for Biden over Trump may not be junk, but they're not making democrats complacent.

As polls continue to worsen, Trump mused on Thursday the idea of delaying the election until it was "safe" to vote in person.
