2024 presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy was criticized by none other than Fox News following his performance during the fourth Republican debate.

Ramaswamy had used the debate stage to troll former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley as "corrupt," claimed he would "instantly" fire half of the federal workforce, and falsely claimed that the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 were an "inside job."

Afterward, Fox News host Dagen McDowell took aim at Ramaswamy, saying he is like "your sister's new boyfriend" who you try to avoid at all costs after meeting him.

You can hear what she said in the video below.

McDowell said:

"Vivek Ramaswamy... I think we always talk about all [new]comers are welcome in the Republican Party. Great diverse field."
"The first debate in August, you watched him and said, 'Okay. We'll give this guy a shot.'"
"He is like your sister’s new boyfriend. You're excited he's coming for Thanksgiving. He's rich, an entrepreneur, he's going to bring some really interesting expensive food."
"And [then] you're coming up on New Year’s Eve you're trying to concoct what kind of illness you’re going to have so you don’t have to spend the night with him. That's where we are with him."

Many concurred with McDowell's assessment.

Ramaswamy, whose wealth comes from biotech and financial businesses, has previously been called out for having a "try-hard" and contrarian personality.

In October, ESPN host and sportswriter Pablo Torreshared anecdotes from his Harvard days with Ramaswamy, revealing that Ramaswamy was referred to as "That Guy" on campus. According to Torre, "That Guy" is typically a "campus celebrity" characterized by considerable ambition and a keen awareness of their public image.

Torre described Ramaswamy's college persona as a blend of "Obama karaoke" that is eager to portray Ramaswamy as "what a smart person looks like" when it's what "an extreme, ridiculous person looks like."
