Fishtopher was adopted from Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Blackwood, New Jersey, after social media caught a glimpse at his sad, chunky face.

Just a few days ago, a sad cat named Fishtopher was up for adoption at Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Blackwood, New Jersey.

His Petfinder bio read:

"Fishtopher is not a fish out of water, but he is out of sorts at the shelter. He is very sad and depressed, and will only eat when he has company."

The bio said that Fishtopher was found as a stray and was probably missing his family but enjoyed one-on-one attention.

It finished with:

"Fishtopher is a big cheeky boy, wouldn't you love rubbing up on those big cheeks?"
"He loves cuddling up in arms, it seems to make him feel secure. We feel that Fishtopher would do best in a more quiet home."
"Please come rescue our big lovable boy!"

Upon seeing the bio, Molly Clarke took to Twitter to spread the word with a tweet captioned:

"I swear to god. If one of you doesn't go get Fishtopher..."

The tweet quickly went viral, and it didn't take long before Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center posted an update about Fishtopher:

"FISHTOPHER HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!"
"Fishtopher went viral online with his sad, fat face. We literally had hundreds of inquiries from people who wanted to adopt and people were waiting out front this morning in line!"
"We're super happy for him, but if you were interested in him, have no fear. We have hundreds of other kitties who are just as wonderful and are wishing that people would come and stand in line for them."

On Saturday, the world got an update as Fishtopher's new owners tweeted a video of him in his new habitat getting some "skritches."

The twitterverse professed their love for Fishtopher and celebrated his adoption.

Fishtopher now has his own Twitter account, and has been using his popularity to help other kitties in need.

Homeward Bound announced that seven other cats were adopted, as well, thanks to Fishtopher's stardom.

And, yes, Fishtopher is trending. As well he should be.
