After MSNBC's Katie Phang made an innocuous joke about Don Jr. showing up to Donald Trump's criminal trial, Eric Trump lashed out with personal insults.

After MSNBC personality Katie Phang made an innocuous joke about Donald Trump Jr. showing up to his father former President Donald Trump's Manhattan criminal trial, younger brother Eric Trump lashed out at her on X.

Phang, who has spent considerable time covering Donald Trump's election interference trial, noted that Don Jr. was in attendance and joked:

"Don Jr. is here today. I guess we know who lost the rock, paper, scissors battle."

You can see her post below.

Eric Trump wasn't too happy about the joke, and he issued an angry tweet shortly afterward, writing that Phang had mocked Trump Jr. simply for showing up to support their father:

"What a cruel and nasty comment by [Katie Phang] at [MSNBC]. This is the state of the mainstream media - attacking a son for supporting their father - as I have on countless days during this bogus sham of a trial."

You can see his post below.

While Phang has not responded to Eric Trump directly, his critics definitely did, reminding him that since he and his family members are the ones who have a reputation for cruelty, he should probably sit this one out.

Trump Jr. later appeared with several GOP allies outside the courtroom to answer questions about his father's criminal case.

The criminal trial in New York revolves around accusations that Donald Trump falsified business records in an attempt to conceal hush money payments made to adult film performer Stormy Daniels to silence her ahead of the 2016 general election.

When questioned by MSNBC's Vaughn Hillyard about Donald Trump having "the opportunity to share his version of the story" yet choosing not to testify, the elder Trump scion encouraged Hillyard to "Look at the clowns that they put on there — you don't subject yourself to that nonsense."

Trump Jr. called the court "a kangaroo court," suggesting his father is the victim of a political witch hunt, and said there is "no justification" for his father to testify "whatsoever."
