The Color Purple star Danielle Brooks made both a fashionable and poignant statement on this year's Oscars red carpet by way of her manicure.
The actor, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the musical adaptation of the classic Alice Walker novel, showed off her sparkly nails to E! News and revealed they held a special meaning.
Brooks' nails featured the number 26, which she shared was a nod to her being the 26th Black woman nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
She told E! News:
"I have '26' on my nails because I'm the 26th Black woman to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress, so I had to at least honor that."
"Whether I go home with an award or not, I will forever be the 26th Black woman to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress."
