Could there be a President Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in our future?

According to the man himself, there very well could at least be a future The Rock presidential campaign. But Stephen Colbert is not having it.

During a recent monologue, the late-night host all but got on his knees and begged the beloved wrestler-turned-actor to not run for POTUS.

It's pretty hard to argue with his reasoning.

Colbert's beseeching request of Johnson comes on the heels of a recent poll showing 46% of Americans want him to run for President—an idea Johnson indicated in a tweet he just might be open to.

President Rock is a fun idea, you must admit.

But we've already had two celebrity Presidents and, well... most would say it didn't go all that great. And Colbert seems to agree with that point.

Addressing his The Late Show With Stephen Colbert audience, he made a compelling case for The Rock sticking to movies.

"I love Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as much as the next middle-aged man who loves Fast Cars Go Zoom. But for the love of Ludacris, Dwayne, we don't need another celebrity in the White House!"
"Just 'cause people love something doesn't mean we should hand it the nuclear codes. That's why we've never elected President Surprise Onion Ring in Your French Fries."

Hard to argue with that.

And then there's the issue of Rock's name.

"[W]e've already have a couple of Presidents Johnson. We'd have to call his administration 2 POTUS 2 Prez: Executive Drift."

And while that would surely be kicky and fun, it wouldn't exactly command respect on the global stage.

And speaking of global dignitaries, as Colbert pointed out, what would a President Rock even serve at a state dinner, "12 pounds of steamed cod and a blender full of creatine powder"?

On Twitter, people agreed with Colbert whole-heartedly.

But there are also plenty of people who are fired up and ready to go for President The Rock.

The 2024 election is shaping up to be really, really interesting...
