Ben Affleck Praised For Hilariously Real Reaction To Son Wanting A Pair Of $6k Sneakers

The actor had a very down-to-earth reaction after his 13-year-old son Samuel had his eye on a pair of expensive Dior Air Jordan 1 sneakers.

It's easy to assume that A-list celebrities, for whom money is no object, spoil their children rotten with fancy and expensive clothes and toys.

While some no doubt do so, Oscar winner Ben Affleck proved not to be among that crowd while on a recent outing with his 13-year-old son, Samuel.

As captured in a recent TikTok video, the actor/director/producer/screenwriter and noted sneaker aficionado told Samuel (his youngest child with ex-wife Jennifer Garner) that if he wanted a pair of notoriously expensive sneakers, he was going to have to save up.

The video caught the two Afflecks visiting the popular sneaker convention GotSole.

One of the first tables they saw happened to have a pair of Dior Air Jordan 1s, the very shoes that the younger Affleck was hoping to find at the convention—and in his size, no less.

A pair of shoes that also happens to come with a $6 thousand price tag.

The price of the shoes was not lost on the correspondent guiding the father and son duo, who could tell that the older Affleck (who recently directed the film Air, chronicling the creation of Air Jordans) was not going to be easily swayed to purchase the coveted sneakers for his son.

Indeed, the Good Will Hunting star quickly made it clear that if Samuel wanted the shoes, he was going to have to pay for them himself.

He joked:

"That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there."

Affleck's dry reaction earned him a standing ovation from viewers of the video, who commended him for making it clear that Samuel needed to earn the shoes, despite the fact that Affleck could have easily afforded them:

Luckily for Ben, and showing how well he and Jennifer Garner raised him, Samuel didn't put up a fuss when denied the costly shoes.

In fact, when the younger Affleck was told the shoes would set him back $6K, he shook his head and turned them away, saying he would "do it for one dollar."

Affleck also accused Samuel in the video of liking Dior Air Jordan 1 merely because they were expensive, a claim Samuel quickly refuted by saying:

"No, they're tough!"
"I always said they looked good."

Teasing aside, the video seemed to make it clear that GotSole was a fun day out for father and son.

It was also evident that not only has Samuel grown to share his father's love of sneakers, but has quickly caught on to his father's taste and style.

When Affleck was asked by the video's correspondent what his "favorite sneaker of all time" was, he initially claimed that he was unable to answer such a question:

"You know I can't just pick one."
"Depends on day to day."

However, there was no fooling Samuel, who quickly chimed in that the Armageddon star loves Nike's De La Souls.

Not surprisingly, when Samuel was asked the same question (which he initially declared was a "really hard" question to answer), he of course picked Dior Air Jordan 1s, even though he admitted they were neck and neck with Nike's Red Octobers, which the video's correspondent happened to be sporting himself that day.

When their correspondent led them to a table where both of the shoes were on display and asked the younger Affleck if he could only pick one, which would he pick?

A question Samuel found "very hard" and instead said he had to pick "both."

However, when pressed again by his dad, and with the correspondent putting his Red Octobers on display, Samuel eventually decided that if he had to pick one pair, it would be the vibrant Red Octobers.

The two were seen leaving the convention with a number of shopping bags.

While it's safe to say there were no Dior Air Jordan 1s in any of those bags, perhaps Samuel Affleck did leave the convention with a new pair of his other favorite sneakers...
