Fans Jump To Defend Anne Hathaway After TikTok Dubs Her 'Rude' Due To Resurfaced Interview

A resurfaced video of the Oscar winner jokingly shutting down a question about whether or not she's talked to Anna Wintour about 'The Devil Wears Prada' has reignited backlash against her.

Did TikTok just enter 2013, or is a HathaHate resurgence upon us?

In case you've forgotten that era, the adoration for the beloved Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway, our Mia Thermopolis, fell by the wayside and transformed into vile detestation... and for no pinpointed reason, at that.

After skyrocketing to fame as the Princess of Genovia, Hathaway's career continued, only gaining traction, as she starred in Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, and Les Miserables, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Around the time of her Oscar win, though, HathaHate was in full swing, resulting in the Dark Knight Rises actor to step away for a year, even telling HuffPost she felt "people needed a break" from her.

During her speech for Elle's Women in Hollywood last fall, Hathaway addressed the unjustified hate:

"... there is a difference between existence and behavior. You can judge behavior. You can forgive behavior or not."
"But you do not have the right to judge—and especially not hate—someone for existing. And if you do, you’re not where it’s at."

Well, for some reason, a video on TikTok showing Anne Hathaway refusing to answer a question during a red carpet interview - from the same Elle event, nonetheless - is making the rounds on the social media platform, the poster posing the question in the caption, "Why she being so rude?"

In the video, a reporter asked if Anna Wintour had ever spoken to Hathaway about The Devil Wears Prada, to which she responded:

"Yes."

The reporter continued:

"And what has she shared?"

Hathaway laughed and responded:

"Why would I tell you?"

When the reporter shared that she's a fan and needed to know, Hathaway replied:

"I know, but you weren't there."

The TikTok creator displayed the words, "SO RUDE," across the screen and many agreed.

However, when the viral video made its way to Twitter, the reaction was completely different.

Many noted Hathaway was assertively setting a boundary on a question about a private conversation she didn't want to answer.

Others expressed it was a rather smart move not divulging her discussion with Wintour.

We don't see anything wrong with her response, but then again, we weren't there.

She steps forward, looks directly into the camera, glances down, then back up again, without uttering a word.

Bad Bunny Hilariously Trolls Fox News Over Their Super Bowl Outrage In 'SNL' Season Opener

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny took aim at Fox News and the conservative outrage over his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show during the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live over the weekend, joking that all of his critics have "four months to learn" Spanish if they're that bothered about him singing in his native tongue during football's biggest night.

Bad Bunny will be the first Latin male artist to headline the halftime show, but many of President Donald Trump's supporters have vowed to boycott the event. At least one far-right figure said Bad Bunny "will just further divide the American people" and suggested that either the right-wing performers Kid Rock or Jason Aldean should headline the show instead.
