The 'Today' show star, who has also had a very public weight loss journey, told critics to 'back off' after Clarkson revealed that she's been using medication to lose weight.

After Kelly Clarkson revealed she uses medication to aid her on her weight loss journey, Al Roker said the critics can just "back off."

During Monday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, guest Whoopi Goldberg told Clarkson she had been "doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help," and the host chimed in, sharing that she, too, was on a medication, albeit not the same one.

"Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that because my blood work got so bad."

She continued:

"And it's great for people like us who have, you know, issues."

Clarkson said it took a bit of convincing from her doctor.

“My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it.'"
“I already have thyroid problems. Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else.”

And as they do, critics on social media wasted no time bashing Clarkson.

But on Tuesday's episode of Today, Al Roker says the judgement needs to stop.

The weatherman, who went through his own very public weight loss journey, addressed the topic:

“There’s too much judgment going on."
“People, as long as they’re working with their doctors and being healthy about it, people ought to just back off and let them live their lives."

Roker added that he knows from his experience that it's “not easy."

“Listen, I took a raft of stuff when I had bypass surgery."
"It’s not easy, whatever you do, so get off people’s backs."

Many noted that Clarkson is following the advice of a medical professional and taking the medication responsibly.

Others commented that, frankly, it's really no one else's business, anyway.

But some wondered why Clarkson denied taking anything in the first place.

Back in January, Clarkson said her move to New York City was the main factor that resulted in her weight loss, telling People:

“Walking in the city is quite the workout."

She added:

“And I’m really into infrared saunas right now."
"And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

What really matters, though, is that she's healthy and happy!

Kids Can Press, the Canadian publisher behind the beloved Franklin children's books, condemned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in a statement after he shared an AI-generated image of Franklin the Turtle to justify his attacks on alleged drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean.

Hegseth's original meme, which he inexplicably captioned "for your Christmas wish list," features a doctored book cover titled Franklin Targets Narco Terrorists and shows Franklin, the protagonist of the popular Canadian children's book series authored by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark, firing a bazooka from a helicopter at boats in the water below.
