At a press gaggle on Thanksgiving Day, Donald Trump responded to a reporter's question about what he is most thankful for with his "great family" and "having made a tremendous difference in this country." Guess which one he expounded upon.
In a move that is so on brand for the president we shouldn't be surprised, and yet it can't be believed, he said it: Trump patted himself on the back numerous times as he said he is most thankful for himself.
"I've made a tremendous difference in the country. This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office that you wouldn't believe it."
He at one point said foreign leaders were telling him they couldn't believe how strong the US is. He declined to mention which leaders said this.
It's a joke that writes itself.
Trump also said,
"And I mean, you see, but so much stronger people can't even believe it."
That last bit seems to be what people can agree on.
Trump's comments came after he used his Thanksgiving morning call with members of the military to go off on politicized tangents, as opposed to the normal inspirational message or speech presidents in the past have given.
This is not the first time he's talked about the "great" job he's done. In an interview with 'Fox News Sunday', when asked how he would grade himself, the president responded,
"I would give myself, I would – look, I hate to do it, but I will do it, I would give myself an A+, is that enough? Can I go higher than that?"
