The former skating pro reflected on Instagram about the union of his son Riley and Cobain's daughter Frances, and everything that the Nirvana singer has missed out on—including their shared grandson.

Sometimes the world truly is a small town.

This past weekend, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk shared on his Instagram his feelings about his grandson, who is actually also the grandson of the late Nirvana member Kurt Cobain. Hawk’s son Riley and Cobain’s daughter Frances had a son named Ronin in 2023.

Hawk shared his feelings about his grandson in text above a ticket for the Cobain show he saw while he was in Houston, Texas back in 1991.

He said that it was a beautiful moment in music history.

“Went straight from S.U.A.S event at Houston skatepark to this concert in 1991. It was as transformative as live music can possibly be: We all experienced something rare and powerful that night."
"The world would never be the same.”

Kurt Cobain did not live to see his daughter Frances grow up, as he died from what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound when he was 27, and she was just 19 months old.

Hawk further reflected in his IG post about how much he wished Cobain could be here with him to see his legacy.

“I wish Kurt were here so he could see the incredible woman his daughter has become, meet her devoted, caring husband, and hold our wondrous grandchild.”

The post had people choked up with tears almost immediately.

Many commenters pointed out how much of a flex it will be for that kid to have the grandfathers he does.

Folks were petitioning for him to be American royalty.

Not even two years old, he is already the '90s made manifest, people said.

Gen Xers who remember the '90s chimed in.

Hawk is working on an animated children’s show called Skatebirds!, which will be great for his grandson as he grows up.
