Ted Cruz Dragged For His Bizarre Theory That Equates 'The Left' With 'Avengers' Supervillain Thanos

Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is known for many things but his movie analysis is not one of them.

During an episode of his podcast on Monday, February 1, Cruz bizarrely compared environmentalists to Thanos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The comparison, which was possibly intended to show conservatives are mistreated by the media or perhaps was meant to demonstrate the left's supposed hypocrisy, came out as pure nonsense no one quite understood.

Cruz, while making wild claims about liberal environmental goals and potential effects on American workers, went into a slight tangent, saying:

"What is interesting, and 'Endgame' is curious, have you noticed in how many movies, how often rabid environmentalists are the bad guys? Whether it's Thanos, or go to 'Watchmen,' where the view of the left is people are a disease."
"They buy into the Malthusian line that there are too many people in the world, that people are bad, and everything would be better if we had fewer people. I mean, Thanos wanted to eliminated 50% of the life-forms in the universe with one finger snapping."

Twitter struggled to wrap their head around Cruz's statement.

Many people were not fond of Cruz's analysis of Thanos as an "environmentalist."

If there's a point within Cruz's statement, it's hidden far beneath the surface.

If Hollywood liberals are the wild environmentalists Cruz is denouncing, why would they make Thanos (also an environmentalist in his mind) the bad guy?

There are many other villains who might have fit Cruz's point better.

To be fair to Senator Cruz, Avengers: Endgame is a very long movie and its easy to get confused about what's going on with so many characters.

MAGA Influencer Charlie Kirk Called Out After Blaming DEI For High Death Toll In Texas Flooding Disaster

Turning Point USA founder and MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk was harshly criticized after he claimed the death toll in the flash floods that have devastated central Texas "would not have been as high if it wasn't for DEI," ridiculously suggesting that principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion were responsible.

Kirk's comments are reflective of President Donald Trump’s broader push to dismantle federal programs focused on diversity and inclusion—part of what he pledged in his inaugural address would be a campaign to stop attempts to “socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
