People Recall Their Favorite Quote From A Movie

Some of our most rewarding experiences have involved fictional characters. In fewer mediums has this been more resonant than in movies.

A screenplay can absolutely make or break a movie a movie, so it's always a pleasure when they boast memorable scenes and even more memorable lines. These factors have helped some movies retain their place in the public consciousness.

People were more than happy to share their favorite quotes after Redditor NoHousing819 asked the online community:

"What's your favorite movie quote?"

Unforgiven (1992)

""Sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man!"

"He should've armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend!"

Axenroth187

This film won all of those Oscars for a reason!

Definitely worth revisiting.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)

"Gentlemen you can't fight in here, this is the war room!"

AlternativeRip1728

This film has only become increasingly relevant.

Doesn't it feel like we're on the brink of more Cold War scenarios?

Superbad (2007)

"They literally stopped me from eating foods that were shaped like dicks. No hot dogs, no popsicles... You know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds."

Mother_Unfcker

Oh, the humanity!

My heart weeps!

Blade Runner (1982)

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”

itillbeanunicorn

No matter which cut you happen to watch, Blade Runner is a classic.

And believe it or not, it wasn't too well regarded in its original release!

Lord of War (2005)

"There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That’s one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other eleven?”

DemonGuitar

A film that I nearly forgot about–and probably worthy of another watch.

Those trailers were EVERYWHERE.

V for Vendetta (2005)

"Beneath this mask there is more than flesh, Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."

Goki65

Now here's a film I need to see again–when this came out, just about everyone in my high school saw it.

American Psycho (2000)

"There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory."

"And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there."

imreagan

American Psycho, for all its violence and all the feelings it stirs in people, is immensely quotable.

Read the book if you dare.

Blazing Saddles (1974)

"You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know...morons."

allengirl717

Out of all of Mel Brooks's movies, this one is probably the best.

Spy Kids (2001)

“Do you think God hides in Heaven because he too is afraid of what he created?”

Xalia_Yevatell

Still blows my mind that this was in Spy Kids of all movies.

It... it's not good.

The Princess Bride (1987)

“The king's stinkin' son fired me, but thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it!”

turd_snurgler

A classic that always manages to lighten my mood each time I watch it.

At least a few of these quotes are making you want to revisit some of these movies, huh?

Good!

And while you're at it, you might as well tell us some of your favorites.

RFK Jr. Admits That Banning Fluoridated Water Will Cause 'More Cavities'—But He's OK With That

Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was criticized after admitting in a Fox News interview with Harris Faulkner that his proposed fluoridated water ban would likely lead people to have more cavities—but defended the move nonetheless.

While fluoride is not federally mandated in drinking water, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had long recommended its inclusion. Fluoride helps prevent cavities by strengthening enamel, and numerous studies have shown that fluoridated water reduces tooth decay in both children and adults.

Fox News personality Jesse Watters was widely mocked after he tried to give New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a scary nickname in the vein of Conan the Destroyer—only for it to backfire considerably.

MAGA Rep Slammed After Calling For Mamdani To Be Stripped Of His Citizenship And Deported Over Rap Lyric

Tennessee Republican Andy Ogles was called out after he shared a letter he sent to Attorney General Pam Bondi urging her to denaturalize and deport New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani over a lyric in a rap song Mamdani released in 2017.

Mamdani ran a campaign centered around economic populism, arguing that the city, a global financial center, has grown unaffordable for everyday residents, citing soaring rents and grocery prices, and outlining policies aimed at reducing the cost of living.
