People Recall Their Dream Jobs From Childhood

When I was a child, my dream was to be an actor. Years later, I went to college for theatre, and discovered that I lowkey hated everything about it. Maybe I just became jaded after a while, but it goes to show that our passions when we're little don't always line up with who we are as adults. I'm not alone in this- here are stories from others who experienced something similar.

u/saladforksaredumb asked: What was your dream job when you were five?

Garbage men are the true heroes.

I wanted to become a garbage man since they only picked up our trash once a week and I thought they had the rest of the week off.

Zino-Rino

I also wanted to be a garbage man, but only because I wanted to ride on the back of the truck.

kkretz17

Mood.

Giphy

I wanted to be a firetruck.

ChunderForce

I'm confused by the number of people who are answering with inanimate objects.

saladforksaredumb

That's true.

I wanted to be a veterinarian but I didn't understand the sad parts of that job yet.

deucetreblequinn

Veterinarian suicide rate is pretty high...

carbonhomunculus

Good advice.

I wanted to be a tractor.

MadcapRecap

Never give up on your dreams.

I_WILL_SEX_UR_FACE

They're not wrong.

Giphy

Architect. I thought I'd be allowed to both design the buildings and drive the bulldozer.

Pops_Sickle

When I was 5 some entertainer tried to drag me on stage to dance at some show at a theme park. But I had the perfect out. I wanted to be an architect and told the entertainer quite confidently that "architects don't dance".

WePwnTheSky

That's thoughtful.

Apparently when I was about five I told my Mum I wanted to be a Doctor so I could "do her hip replacement when she got older".

R1otous

I wanted to be a doctor as well, but it was because I thought it was the only way I'd get to see some boobies. I was mischievous 5 year old.

LexB777

Same.

I wanted to be a food critic. Funny because I was a picky eater, but I loved food.

grayghostie

"These brussel sprouts are BULLSH*T! And the pork chops are DRY and FLAVORLESS!"

"Where's the god. damn. APPLESAUCE, Mom?"

FoxyPhil88

That counts!

Giphy

I wanted to be a stand up comedian, it never happened but sometimes people on Reddit upvote my jokes.

TannedCroissant

When I told my parents I wanted to be a comedian they laughed at me, but nobody is laughing now.

elfballs

Why not both?

I'm pretty sure I wanted to be a truck driver or a horse. Both options were very disappointing to my parents. Inadvertently I had subsequently set a solid standard and have continued to be very disappointing for the rest of my life.

Snoweyedeer

The horse industry is very competitive. But if you go to college and work hard, the skies the limit. I suggest some extracurricular activities such as racing and rodeos. Keep your head on straight and you'll be a horse in no time

Source: I am a horse. Neigh.

I_WILL_SEX_UR_FACE

I'm sure a lot of people want the same.

I wanted to become a Jedi and learn to use the force.

SaggyHUGGIES321

When I was 6 I asked for a real lightsaber for Christmas because I just assumed big bearded would figure it out.

The two toy ones I got were pretty neat though.

Dr. Oz Slammed For Tone Deaf Health Advice For Americans On Medicaid And Medicare

Dr. Mehmet Oz—now the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services—was criticized after he offered Americans unsolicited health advice during a Fox News appearance, saying that Americans shouldn't "eat carrot cake" as millions face cuts to their government-funded health insurance.

The passage of President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" will cause 17 million people to lose valuable Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Under the bill, individuals earning just above the federal poverty line would be required to start paying out of pocket for certain Medicaid services, such as doctor visits and lab tests.

Adam Schiff Calls Out The Real Reason Trump Is Accusing Him Of 'Fraud'—And Yeah, That Tracks

California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff fired back at President Donald Trump after Trump accused Schiff of "possible mortgage fraud" in a Truth Social post—prompting Schiff to point out that Trump's attack is another attempt to take attention away from Trump's association with the late financier, pedophile, and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump, without citing evidence, said Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division found that Schiff had a “sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud" that involved misstating which home Schiff used as a primary residence, allowing him to secure a cheaper mortgage.
