For over a century, Mackinac Island in Michigan has been car-free, with the exception of emergency vehicles.

Automobiles were outlawed from the island—which has fewer than 500 residents—in the late 19th century after complaints that the new technology was startling horses.

Since then, five Presidents on both sides of the aisle have visited the island and respected the ban, opting for bicycles or horse-drawn carriages instead.

So locals weren't too pleased when Vice President Mike Pence drove not one, not two, but eight vehicles through the island on his way to the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference.

Watch below.

While some supporters of Pence and his boss, President Donald Trump, gathered on the side of the road to greet him, others—like Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib—let Pence know what they thought of his vehicles.

In closing:

Ann Coulter Faces Fierce Backlash After Saying 'We Didn't Kill Enough Indians' In Deleted Post

Far-right provocateur Ann Coulter is facing fierce criticism after she made a genocidal remark in a now-deleted post on X in response to University of Minnesota professor and Navajo Nation member Melanie Yazzie's speech about colonization.

Yazzie, in a speech at last year's annual Socialism Conference, said "decolonization is the only thing that is going to save us as a species" during a panel hosted by Red Nation, a Native American nonprofit that advocates for Palestinian and Native American rights. She also said that the United States is the "greatest predator empire that has ever existed" and said it should be dismantled.
