GOP Senator States That Separating Migrant Families Isn't Such A Big Deal Before Admitting That He Actually Has No Idea

Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) had some trouble articulating his position on the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy, which instructs Border Patrol officials to separate immigrant children from their parents.

Speaking with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Toomey initially said that stories about the trauma migrant children and parents are facing due to the policy have been "exaggerated significantly."

"I think the instance of the, you know, the heart-wrenching separation of a small child from the mother is, has been, the frequency has been exaggerated significantly."

The Pennsylvania Republican then questioned whether the people bringing children over the U.S.-Mexican border are, in fact, the actual parents of the children accompanying them.

"There are serious challenges at the border like, 'Does the person claiming to be the parent, is that person actually the parent?'"

But after Hewitt noted that more than 2,000 children have been separated from their parents at the border, and that many of them are being kept in cages, Toomey admitted he actually had no idea what he was talking about.

"This is not my area of expertise, Hugh. I'm going to have to drill down into this and address it," he said. "And maybe you're right. Maybe this is happening with a higher frequency than I've been aware of, and it is certainly, it's just not the right thing to be doing."

Hewitt then asked Toomey if he thinks the zero tolerance policy is leading to a humanitarian crisis, to which Toomey said yes.

"Yeah. Yes. I suppose it could," he said. "I mean, I think clearly, the country is focused on this. Clearly, it's a horrendous situation if a small child is being taken away from the child's actual mother. So I think we've got to solve this problem."

HuffPost asked Toomey's office for clarification on his views, and Toomey spokesman Steve Kelly said the possibility of a humanitarian crisis "accurately depicts" the senator's stance.

Nearly 12,000 migrant children are being held in detention centers in the southwestern United States. Some of them are as young as four years old.

AOC Expertly Mocks Republicans Who Are Crying Foul Over Virginia's Redistricting Vote: 'Wah, Wah, Wah'

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mocked Republicans who are complaining about their Virginia redistricting loss, explaining to reporters why they're so preoccupied about the possibility of Democrats picking up additional seats in the House of Representatives in this year's midterm elections.

The new lines would shift the state’s congressional balance from a current 6–5 Democratic edge to a projected 10–1 advantage, with only one Republican-leaning district in the conservative southwest.

A 'Fake Egg' Prank Targeting Kids Is Trending On TikTok—But Not Everyone Thinks It's Funny

In a recent TikTok trend, people are presenting young children with "fake eggs" and crushing the egg in their hands to show that the eggs are fake.

In order for this trend to work, the person has to poke a hole into each end of the egg to drain it of its yolk and let the shell dry, so it becomes more brittle and easy to crush, making the prank more believable.

Guy Sparks Debate After Abandoning Girlfriend In Economy While He Booked Himself A First Class Seat On Flight

It's really hard to watch while someone is clearly not being treated well enough by their partner, and instead of accepting the reality check for what it is, they spend their time digging their heels in deeper and defending their partner's honor.

That was certainly true for TikToker Nicole Vawter, or @nicmarievee, anyway, when fellow TikTokers called her partner out on selfishly booking himself a first class seat while his long-time girlfriend sat back in economy.

Guy Sparks Modern Dating Debate With His Unhinged Texts To Woman Who Turned Him Down For Second Date

You know what they say: if a person has to point out how nice they are, they probably aren't really all that nice.

Actions tend to speak louder than words, with an affinity for niceness and kindness being among the best examples. When a person is truly nice and kind, it will come through in their daily attitude and actions without them having to say anything at all.
