The 3-D printer has revolutionized a vast array of fields from architecture to medicine to sculpture and more. Now, plans for an entire community of 3-D printed structures are underway from acclaimed Swiss designer Yves BĂŠhar.
The community is in response to an international housing crisis, with millions of people denied adequate shelter. BĂŠhar's design seeks to change that.
Watch below:
BĂŠhar's design studio teamed with New Storyâa foundation dedicated to funding innovative solutions to homelessnessâand tech company ICON to make the community a reality.
The team expects to have the first houses printed by this year, where the neighborhood will house farmers in an unspecified location in Latin America.
People are on board with the idea.
3-D printing may prove invaluable in the effort of eradicating homelessness.
