Molly Ringwald And Ally Sheedy Just Had A 'Breakfast Club' Reunion—And Fans Are Loving It

Ringwald shared a photo on Instagram with her former costar Sheedy nearly 38 years after the classic film's 1985 debut.

Almost 40 years after the release of the iconic coming-of-age drama The Breakfast Club, two of the film's stars escaped their Saturday detention to enjoy a girl's night out.

When The Breakfast Club was released in 1985, its five stars—Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson—became five of the most popular young actors in Hollywood.


Together with Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore and Rob Lowe they earned the moniker "The Brat Pack." Some of the other actors mentioned as part of the pack were Robert Downey Jr., Charlie Sheen and James Spader.

The John Hughes film chronicled five teenagers from different social circles all finding common ground when stuck at school serving a Saturday detention. The Breakfast Club has remained one of the more popular teen dramas.

However not all actors who play friends on screen are friendly off-screen.

But in a recent Instagram post, Ringwald suggested the time she and Sheedy shared in The Breakfast Club was only the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Captioned "Early Christmas present-dinner with my psychic sister Ally", the post featured the two 80's film icons, trading in their teen couture for elegant winter coats, sharing an embrace at New York City's popular French eatery Café Luxembourg.

The nostalgic reunion of the two former teen icons saw Brat Pack fans go wild, including fellow 80s icons Susannah Hoffs and Cat Power of The Bangles as well as My Big Fat Greek Wedding scribe and star Nia Vardalos.

Many hoped Ringwald and Sheedy's reunion would be only the first of many Breakfast Club or Brat Pack reunions, with some even calling for a sequel.

Others couldn't get over how both "Claire" and "Allison" look virtually unchanged nearly 40 years later.

While Brat Pack reunions have been relatively few and far between since the 1980s, Ringwald, Sheedy and others have previously reunited on a few notable occasions.

In 2005, Ringwald and Sheedy served as presenters at the MTV movie awards alongside fellow Breakfast Club member Anthony Michael Hall—who also co-starred with Ringwald in the Brat Pack classic Sixteen Candles—and Paul Gleason who played Shermer High School's domineering Vice Principal Richard Vernon.

In 2010 Ringwald, Sheedy and Hall reunited once morejoined by fellow Breakfast Club alumni Judd Nelson to pay tribute to The Breakfast Club's late director John Hughes at the Academy Awards.

In 2015, Ringwald and Sheedy made a special appearance at South By Southwest to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary.

During their South by Southwest appearance, Sheedy expressed despite the drastic changes in high school culture and teenage behavior, the film has a timeless quality.

"The movie has this message that in spite of people’s differences, there is something unifying in the experience of growing up and trying to find yourself."

Ringwald backed up Sheedy's remarks, declaring her then 11-year-old daughter had recently watched the film for the first time and "loved it!"
