The daughter of Steve West, a controversial Republican candidate for the Missouri General Assembly, is speaking out harshly against her own father. According to the Kansas City Star, Emily West is calling her father "a fanatic" and "totally insane" for his apparent racist beliefs.

"I can't imagine him being in any level of government," she told reporters. "He's made multiple comments that are racist and homophobic and how he doesn't like the Jews."

"I asked him to drop out and said, 'I think it's a really bad idea that you're running and I don't think this is going to end well for you,'" she continued, in part. "And he told me that this is what his life has been about and that everything in his life has come to this moment and it's the most important thing. And I said, 'OK, then I don't want to talk to you. I don't want you to be a part of my life.' And I haven't talked to him since."

Twitter rallied around Emily following her comments.

Steve West has a terrible reputation for making outrageous claims like "Hitler was right" and making numerous anti-Semitic remarks. Despite the controversy surrounding him, he could possibly win a Missouri General Assembly seat in this upcoming election.

Looking into Steve West's background, he's definitely made some wacky claims. Being denounced by your own children is pretty brutal, but this guy seems like he deserves it. As Emily said, bigots have no place in government. Just another great reason to vote in this midterm election!

Phillips, a former top Texas health official, was appointed in December to lead FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery—a division with more than 1,000 employees—despite a background that raised questions. For instance, before taking the role, he had made unverified claims, including allegations about election fraud.

During a Friday segment on Fox News's America’s Newsroom with anchor Dana Perino, senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel called a declining birth rate among people aged 15-19 a "problem."

The discussion revolved around new CDC data showing the United States fertility rate, based on birth rates, has fallen to a record low. The fertility rate fell 7 percent in 2025, from 53.8 births per 1,000 childbearing aged women—defined as age 15 to 44—in 2024 to 53.1, according to a report released by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics on Thursday.
