Miles Taylor, the Former Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security under President Donald Trump, made headlines earlier this month when he denounced his former boss and warned Americans of the threats Trump poses to the rule of law and urged them to vote for Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
Now, with the Republican National Convention set to begin its second night, Taylor is coming forward in a new video fro Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT) about the moment he decided to leave the Trump administration.
Watch below.

Taylor says:
"It was April of 2019. We were down at the border, and the president said to the senior leadership of the Homeland Security Department behind the scenes, we should not let anyone else into the United States. And even though he had been told on repeated occasions that the way he wanted to do it was illegal, his response was to say, 'Do it. If you get in trouble, I'll pardon you.'"
Taylor went on to say that officials reminded Trump that it was illegal to completely shut down the United States border.
He continued:
"[Trump] said, 'I don't care.' His exact words were, 'The bins are full.'"
Taylor's account bolsters a story originally reported by the New York Times last year, in which Trump told border security official Kevin McAleenan to unilaterally close the southwest border. Trump offered to pardon McAleenan if he faced legal troubles due to the decision.
Taylor's video is set to air on conservative network Fox News during the Republican convention.

"Do it. If you get in trouble, I'll pardon you." We get to vote on whether this corruption is okay Nov. 3. https://t.co/BBri4XgmmS

This type of criminality proves, again, how truly despotic and abhorrent Trump is as president. #DemCast #DemCastAZ #DemCastTX #DemCastGA https://t.co/kqUNQzLbyw

There. Is. No. Bottom. With stories like these, it should be “American Voters Against Trump..." it's that bad and that ugly. Thankfully, people like @MilesTaylorUSA have had enough...@RVAT2020 https://t.co/uUgGDRzQCX

People are eager to see how the video will affect Fox News viewers' perceptions of Trump.
If they're running this on fox news it will probably gain trump voters tbh https://t.co/TTbLjqJfYp

This may work on folks like me but I don't need persuading. Does a message like this work on undecided voters or regular Republican voters? I think they may cheer what the orange guy did instead.

While I am appalled, I believe his base would cheer this on as doing the will “of the people". Something stronger that's indefensible is out there and needs to bubble to the surface, and soon
