Lindsay Lohan Offers Poignant Advice After Fan Asked Her To Come Out To Her Parents For Her

In case the last few months of threats to democracy and hate-fueled conspiracy theories have made you forget, the internet can be a force for positive and endearing moments.

Recently, a young woman asked actress Lindsay Lohan for some help with a pretty serious situation.

When TikTok user @shhlana—real name Alana—struggled to muster the courage to tell her parents she's gay, she reached out to Lohan, star of Mean Girls and The Parent Trap. Alana asked the actress to make a Cameo video in which Lohan would come out to her parents on her behalf, Huffington Post reported.

Cameo is a video streaming service that allows fans to request personalized videos from celebrities.

But as a TikTok video from shhlana revealed, Lohan, a well-known LGBTQ activist, refused to do so. And she did it in the kindest, most supportive way possible.

Lohan did send Alana a video clip, but it was a direct and heartfelt push for her to feel strength and take the difficult task on herself:

"I know that you are about to take a very big step in telling your parents who you truly are and what you want them to accept of you."
"And I think that you should do it yourself."
"I think that coming from you, you'll feel a lot of power and strength."
"It's important that you are who you truly are and that you love yourself and that you can live by that and tell your parents that. I promise you they will understand."

People were thrilled to see such tenderness and support from Lindsay Lohan.

Of course, that clip went viral pretty quickly. Usually, that's purely exciting for a TikTok user.

But as Alana explained in a follow up video, millions of views and even an E! News article are a couple surefire ways to blow a person's cover when they have a secret they wish to tell.

But as Alana reported, she did sit down and inform her parents of her sexuality, and it went as well as Lohan predicted.

TikTok users were a tad bummed Alana was forced to hastily have the conversation, but they were so glad it all went well.

And in case this left you wanting some more Lindsay Lohan content, you'll be able to catch her in the upcoming film Cursed, where she'll star opposite Mickey Rourke as a police detective searching for an escaped psychiatric patient.

Maybe not quite as heartfelt, but Lindsay nonetheless.

But on Tuesday, Alana told Variety she received a message from the Lohan Cameo account asking her to take the video down. A screenshot of the request said: "Hi! Just wanted to ask if you could take the cameo down because it was private for your use only."

A representative for Lohan didn't immediately respond to Variety's request for comment. But a representative for Cameo told Variety, "The user [Alana] has a license to share the unedited video."

And so it will remain up unless Alana decides to take it down.
