It's baaaaaack.
After what seems like forever (but really only 2 years), the public once again gets to witness parents break their children's precious hearts on national television. Yes, Jimmy Kimmel has revived his annual Halloween candy prank in which - on the day after Halloween - parents tell their children that they ate all of their Halloween candy... which is met with award-worthy pint-sized theatrics.
Though Kimmel did not hold this annual tradition at the height of the pandemic, he revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that parents continued to prank their children.
You can watch the much-anticipated "I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy 2022" compilation below, which is captioned:
"People love this so much that the last two years we didn't even ask anyone to do it, but hundreds of families did it anyway."
"So we gave up. We did it again."

Viewers also had a lot to say about the children's reactions.
“@JimmyKimmelLive Kid at '1:15' who made a fist and didn't cry, is mob boss. Girl at '2:36' is the optimist of all...that's a Managing Director. But the kid at '3:20' must be feared...'cos that's the Godfather himself. He's processing the situation quietly in mind, and will deal with you later.🤨”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
“@JimmyKimmelLive My favorite is the girl who looks into her empty bucket and says "damnit"”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686

“@JimmyKimmelLive The parents of super super angry boy better lock their bedroom door at night from now on 🤣”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
Many still think it's a cruel segment on the show.
That criticism is also an annual tradition for this prank.
“@JimmyKimmelLive I really don't get how making your kid sad and cry is funny or enjoyable to a parent 🤯Ppl will laugh watching these videos & think its faf .. but it's a cheap one. I hink the parents that actually do this probably traumatize then a lot.”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
“@JimmyKimmelLive Sorry, I don’t see the entertainment in emotionally abusing kids.”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
“@JimmyKimmelLive This is cruel. Not funny.”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
“@JimmyKimmelLive I wound never be so intentionally mean to my children. Jimmy Kimmel should be ashamed.”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
“@JimmyKimmelLive Yeah, this seems kinda gross.

I'm not mad or offended or anything. But this doesn't seem funny at all.”— Jimmy Kimmel Live (@Jimmy Kimmel Live) 1667444686
In his defense, Kimmel did try to justify the segment.
"By the way, I do want to say for the record, kids cry about everything."
At the end of the video, Kimmel is heard saying:
"Sorry , kids. We'll make it up to you next year."
Somehow we doubt that makes them feel better now.
