"How did your parents meet?" –– This was today's burning question from Redditor redditgod0, and we're thrilled to say that we very much enjoyed these rather romantic (and sometimes kooky) stories.

If you're looking to have your heart grow a few sizes, read further. We love it when people are in love.

"My dad thought..."

Blind date at a sushi restaurant. My dad thought the wasabi was avocado and ate a whole blob of it. Not used to spicy food.

ScreamAtGod

"My mum would go fishing..."

My mum would go fishing with her pet rat and it would go find things for her to fish with and eventually my dad walked over and informed my mum that the rat was stealing his bait and bringing it to her

"They worked..."

They worked in the same office building, on the same floor, but for different businesses. The elevator was dreadfully slow. They started talking one day while waiting. Some time later my dad asked my mom to lunch, and the rest was history.

"Allegedly..."

My dad saw my mom washing clothes. Allegedly, her legs caught his attention. Several months later (this was in the late 60s - in an uber-conservative Catholic country), my dad took my mom on a "trip" which ended up at my dad's family's second home in another province. This little road trip led to my maternal relatives meeting up with my paternal grandparents to arrange my parents' marriage a few weeks later.

"One day..."

My mom worked as a hairstylist back in the 90s, because she was really pretty her boss gave her the window spot to drag in customers. During that time, my dad was working at the Froyoland across the street. His co-worker dared him to go get a hair cut from her, so he went in and got a perm, and they found it really easy to talk to each other. So after that he would do nice things like give her free froyo during her lunch breaks.

One day my mom got laid off from her boss because she told her that she needs to change her hours during the summer to take college classes (or something like that). My dad got so pissed off, he went inside, took the bucket of dirty mop water, and dumped it all over her boss's brand new car.

Then he treated my mom to dinner to make her feel better and the rest is history.

"Well, eventually..."

My aunt (dad's sister) and my mom worked together for years and became very close friends. My aunt kept trying to set my mom up with my dad for years, but she kept saying no because she didn't want things to be awkward if things didn't work out with her best friends brother. Well, eventually she lost a bet at work and finally agreed to go out with him. My aunt told me that my mom kept saying "Just one date!"

They've been together for 25 years.

"A couple years later..."

Dad was doing his conscription time in the army (2 years), his older brother had just finished his time. Dad was home on leave, and older brother invited him to come out for a drink with him and his new girlfriend. New girlfriend offered to bring her younger sister along so they could have a double date. A couple years later, they had a double wedding with the brothers marrying the sisters. Aunt and uncle divorced after a few years, but mum and dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before he died.

"The following week..."

At a local nightclub. They had mutual friends and my Dad asked my Mum on date and she said no because that weekend The Beatles were going to be on Top of the Pops and she didn't want to miss it. My Mum had a huge crush on Paul McCartney. The following week my Dad asked her again and the rest is history.

zerbey

"My father was part of a team..."

My father was part of a team making a documentary about the golden triangle (SE Asia opium producing countries) and my mom was their Chinese interpreter.

chinchenping

"My mother was a nurse..."

My mother was a nurse in charge of a ward. My father was in charge of a team of A&E nurses. His patients were moved into her ward and they had a large argument over who had jurisdiction. It was such a good argument that they fell in love because that makes perfect sense.

Melania Just Held A Bizarre Press Conference To Debunk 'False Smears' Related To Jeffrey Epstein—And Everyone Had The Same Response

First Lady Melania Trump had everyone thinking the same thing after she held a bizarre press conference on Thursday to deny that she had anything but casual ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the late disgraced financier, pedophile, sexual abuser, and sex trafficker.

Mrs. Trump publicly denied any ties to convicted sex offenders Epstein and his procurer Ghislaine Maxwell, saying claims linking her to Epstein are “lies” meant to damage her reputation. She said she met her husband, President Donald Trump at a New York City party in 1998 and did not meet Epstein until 2000, contradicting a witness statement in the Epstein files that alleges Epstein introduced the couple.

Dem Rep. Sarah McBride Perfectly Shames Nancy Mace For Her Transphobic Response To McBride's Condemnation Of Trump

Delaware Democratic Representative Sarah McBride pushed back at South Carolina Republican Representative Nancy Mace after Mace responded with transphobia to McBride's criticism of President Donald Trump's genocidal threat to kill the "whole civilization" of Iran.

Trump has insisted that God supports his war on Iran and declared—before a provisional ceasefire was announced—that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" ahead of a deadline to bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges that legal scholars and world leaders have said would constitute war crimes.

Comedian Explains How Millennials' Midlife Crises Are Different From Past Generations—And He's Spot On

Don't make promises you cannot keep, unless your goal is to hurt someone.

Millennials know that practically better than anyone. They were fed a long and impassioned series of advice, hyper-focused on the importance of getting a college degree in order to find a good job. They were also force-fed traditionalist ideals of getting married, having kids, and buying a nice house with the money they'd be making from that great job, of course.
