'Family Feud' Contestant Hilariously Whiffs Sudden Death Question About Popeye

A Family Feud Canada contestant was incredibly embarrassed after mixing up Popeye's chicken and "Popeye the Sailor."

Much like the American version of Family Feud, the show has Canadian families compete for $10,000 by guessing the most popular answers to survey questions.

Family Feud Canada shared the hilarious clip on Twitter.

The show's host, Canadian comedian and actor Gerry Dee, invited the contestants, Eve Dubois and Logan Tomlin, up for the "Sudden Death" round. Neither feuding team had reached the 300 point mark, and this question was their last chance to make it to the final round.

The excited players readied their hands on the buzzers, and Dee posed the fateful question: "Name Popeye's favorite food."

Dubois hit the buzzer and answered the question with overflowing confidence.

She practically sang her answer: "Chicken!"

But obviously, that answer was wrong.

The question was referencing the famous 1930's comic strip and cartoon, "Popeye the Sailor."

Created by E. C. Segar in 1929, Popeye is a one-eyed sailor who famously powers up his strength by eating spinach.

Popeye continues to be a pop culture icon; he and his love interest Olive Oyl are a popular couples Halloween costume, there's a yearly fan meet for the character in Illinois called "The Popeye Picnic, and there's an animated film in the works.

The Dubois family was visibly dismayed by her answer.

Obviously, upon hearing "Popeye", Eve immediately thought of Popeyes, the fast food chain that sells fried chicken.

Can you blame her? It's delicious.

Dee couldn't contain his laughter as Dubois tried to explain her strange answer.

Logan did answer "spinach", and his family happily went on to the final round.

People loved Dubois's enthusiasm.

Her confusion was completely understandable.

Dubois had a chance to explain herself further to CBC.

She said of her family's reaction and her celebratory dance:

"When I looked at my mom and she gave me the death glare... I was like, what did I do? What's wrong, why aren't you clapping for me? I think everyone was just kind of shocked and a little upset. They were like, 'what were you thinking?' And I was like, I don't think I was thinking. It kind of just came out and when I'm nervous I dance."

She actually does know who Popeye is.

"That's the sad part. I know exactly who he is and I know he loves spinach.… In my head, I thought the question was, 'what's the most famous thing to eat at Popeyes... I wasn't listening. I just wanted to hit that buzzer so hard."

But Dubois and her family are winners after all.

Popeyes reached out to Dubois on Twitter, and offered her $10,000 worth of their chicken.

Even Trump's NASA Director Had To Set Kim Kardashian Straight After She Said The Moon Landing 'Didn't Happen'

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy—who is also NASA's Acting Administrator—issued the weirdest fact-check ever when he corrected reality star Kim Kardashian after she revealed herself to be a moon landing conspiracist.

Conspiracy theorists have long alleged the moon landing was fabricated by NASA in what they claim was an elaborate hoax—and Kardashian certainly made it clear where she stands in a video speaking to co-star Sarah Paulson on the set of the new Hulu drama All’s Fair.

Special Olympics Fires Back At Kid Rock With Powerful Statement After He Used 'The R-Word' To Describe Halloween Costume

MAGA singer Kid Rock was called out by Loretta Claiborne, the Chief Inspiration Officer of the Special Olympics, after he used the "r-word"—a known ableist slur—to describe his Halloween costume this year.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was speaking with Fox News host Jesse Watters when he donned a face mask and said he'd be going as a "r**ard" for Halloween. Watters had guessed he was dressed as Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who spearheaded the nation's COVID-19 pandemic response.
